Description
Nestled within the beautiful gardens of Tara Homestead, a 160 year old family home in the heart of Guildford, south of Castlemaine in the Victorian gold fields region, are two thoroughly charming fully self contained cottages.
You'll be greeted by hosts Bill and Toni who will guide you through the restful gardens to your private oasis. A welcome plater including home made bread, a selection of cheeses and dips will be served on the patio overlooking the gardens. Enjoy watching the prolific birdlife around the garden and dam, in gardens reminiscent of another era.
The shuttered cottages are beautifully appointed with terracotta floors and mediterranean styling, with queen size beds that are beyond comfortable. During the winter you can watch the glowing embers from your own wood stove.
An enormous breakfast basket is provided for you to make your selection from and you can either cook inside, in well appointed kitchen or on the deck at the bbq provided.
Toni would be delighted to show you through the house which is being lovingly restored to it's former elegance. The driveway shows off formal gardens with a circular drive that brings you to the steps of the house. A wide veranda overlooking the gardens offers a sunlit alternative for morning coffee. The grand entrance leads to formal dining room that seats twelve and is overlooked by the most wonderful antique mirror. There's a formal living room, four bedrooms and a country style kitchen that invites you to sit and chat for a while.
For those city dwellers who like to spend time in the garden you'll find this a restful, revitalising retreat that will allow you to forget the stresses of city life.
Beautiful Country Gardens
There is a sense of country elegance in this well known Guildford property. At Winter time the frosty mornings and clean crisp air surounds you. Waking up in the cosy cottages is nothing short of a fairy tale experience.
Now with summer here it is very relaxing to sit under the trees near the dam with a wine in hand and enjoying the delicious platter with dips and cheeses.

Both fitted out with a queen size bed and double sofa bed, spacious bathroom and self contained kitchenette, ensuring the highest standards of modern accommodation whilst maintaining old world charm.
