Welcome to YURNGA, aboriginal for "Big View".
It is stunning, and secluded, with surround (bird) sound.

"the skies open above you, and the areas open around you"
D.H.Lawrence could have been referring to my Retreat!

Yurnga is a secluded Mountain Retreat, architect designed, located in a rain forest setting with a big view overlooking the Gold Coast. The house sits on a huge 3 acre block, complete with its' own rain forest and rolling green pastures. Share you breakfast with a kookaburra. sometimes they take up pole position on the verandah.
You will never see our resident whip bird, but he certainly makes his presence felt.

(MID WEEK SPECIALS ARE AVAILABLE MONDAY TO THURSDAY NIGHTS.)
conditions apply.
A complimentary bottle of wine awaits you on arrival, and tea and coffee is there for you to sample.
You will be provided with a "Tamborine Pack", listing all the attractions on the Mountain- a map of the area, and a foodies guide (as recommended by SBS).

Free Austar movies are there for you to enjoy, and 8 sport's channels.

The Retreat is your own private sanctuary. The check in check out times can be quite flexible, as you liaise with the owner.

(This is not a venue that caters for weddings.)

MAIN HOUSE

High pitched ceilings and abundant glass work together to optimise the fabulous location. This area is air conditioned when nights get chilly.
A fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas cook top dishwasher etc with an adjoining walk in pantry.
Complimentary tea and coffee and a coffee maker are there for you to enjoy. There are starter supplies of dishwasher, garbage bags and paper towels.
* Cosy potbelly fire in fireplace.
* 2 en-suited bedrooms (King & Queen sized beds) bookend the east facing house; between them the living areas and decks share views of the rain forest and the expanse of the Gold Coast.
High thread count sheets and luxury cotton towels are supplied.
Both bedrooms are air conditioned.
* Main bedroom, has a glass walkway to en-suite bathroom with spa bath, looking out over the fabulous view.
* Air conditioning in lounge & main bedroom.

BUNK HOUSE:
*comprises 2 bedrooms with an interconnecting bathroom, with a glass ceiling looking up into the rain forest.
Both bedrooms have individual air conditioning units.
This is a separate dwelling, which is connected to the Main House by a walkway.
It is secluded and private.

Pricing of The Retreat is based on 4 people using the Main House. The Bunk House is available for a separate tariff but only in conjunction with an existing booking.

The Retreat is an adults only getaway.

Tamborine Mountain is part of the Scenic Rim.
It boasts a tropical hinterland that must be experienced to be believed.
Everywhere you turn you will see mountains.
Australia's most accessible World Heritage-listed rainforests are spread throughout the 8 National Parks of the Scenic Rim. The natural landscape is stunning!

There is much to do and see:

The Tamborine Rainforest Sky Walk puts you in the canopy with the wildlife
.The Sky Walk & the Glow Worm Caves are the 2 most popular sites on the Mountain.

Off the Mountain, 30 minutes drive away, conveniently located on the M1 motorway, are 2 Fun Parks.
Wet & Wild. The new corkscrew water slide sends riders on rafts through an enclosed tube at speeds of up to 30 kmph. It is claimed to be the highest banking tubes in the world.!!
Dreamworld, also located on the M1 motorway is home to the Sumatran Tigers. they star in this headline act in 30 hectare fun park. Given their dwindling numbers, this is a memorable experience.

If you are a daredevil, you can hitch a ride with a local hang glider, or you can be an onlooker. Meander down Gallery Walk, a run of intriguing shops, restaurants, art galleries.
If food and wine are more to your taste, visit the Cheese Factory, or The Belgian Chocolate Shop, or the boutique breweries and distilleries
There are locally grown organic veggies, native flowers or a coffee on offer in the local area.

Latest News:
A vegetable garden akin to Mr. MacGregor's Garden has just opened opposite St., Bernard's School , from 7.30-9.30 (Sun, Tues & Thurs). Purple cauliflowers, heirloom tomatoes, herbs for sale.Just visiting the " patch" is an experience!
Stay for 2 days and you will feel like you have been on holiday for a week. A truly blissful experience.

One guest has decided to write a book on site given the tranquility of the location.

* 40 minutes from the Gold Coast.
* 60 minutes from Brisbane city
* 60 minutes from Coolangatta airport

To wake up and have a breathtaking view towards the Coast, across the lush green mountains while sipping your cuppa- no cares or worries- the world can pass vy quietly- I didn't notice. the nights are great- peaceful and dark. for a person who works 7 days/ week, I have been totally relaxed- done nothing except enjoy my " Retreat", and all that Tamborine can offer."
