Description

You will be walking on air staying at this eco-friendly holiday house on Tamborine Mountain. There are panoramic views both day and night, with 90 square metres of decks to bring the outside in. You can use the telescope to explore the ocean horizon from Jumpinpin to Surfers Paradise, or survey the tree clad ridges and rolling green valleys of Wongawallan.

Cloud 9 is located on the north-east edge of the Eagle Heights escarpment in a quiet, end-of-court position overlooking a vast wilderness preserve. You can watch the sun and moon rise romantically over the Pacific Ocean and wake to the morning chorus of the songbirds. Walk to the splendid Botanic Gardens or drive 2 minutes to the charming shops, restaurants, cafes and wineries of Gallery Walk. Visit the heritage museum and stroll through the ancient rainforest of MacDonald National Park. Or explore further with the kids to the Glow Worm Caves, Skywalk, the Adventure Ropes Course at Thunderbird Park and the rock pools at Cedar Creek Falls.

This spacious home sleeps from 4 to 8 including a master bedroom with indulgent ensuite and separate dressing room, a pleasant second bedroom with pillow-top queen bed, plus a large and private third bedroom on the ground level with two king singles and 40 inch wall-mounted Sharp TV. There is a comfy double sofa bed in the media room for extra guests. The upstairs bedrooms and living rooms all enjoy those uninterrupted coast and hinterland views, with walls of glass opening to the eastern verandah.

Cloud 9 is furnished throughout with quality appointments. You can watch a DVD on the 46 inch Samsung TV or play your iPod on the Pioneer sound system. Chat with friends on the plush leather couches, recline in the 20 jet spa bath, play a board game with the kids or choose your zone to relax on the grand viewing deck. There are two ample bathrooms at each end of the house and undercover parking for three or more cars.

There is indoor dining for 8 and outdoor dining for 10 or more with a large, well-supplied kitchen and undercover gas BBQ, great for entertaining with family and friends. You will also appreciate a charming mountain garden, with a majestic eucalypt at the entrance, meandering pathways, roses and rainforest, fruit trees and a herb patch. There are several lovely backdrops to discover for those special wedding photos.

Cloud 9 is enchanting in all seasons as there are no extremes in temperature on the mountain. Be captivated by the spring mists as they rise through the valleys below or delight in the changing colours of the gardens in autumn. Escape the heat of the coast and welcome the mountain cool in summer, with ocean breezes and ceiling fans in every room. Or enjoy the crystal clear days and nights of winter as you cozy up around the gas log fire, perhaps with a good book from the library.

Cloud 9 employs a part-time professional gardener, cleaner and launderer, and provides regular income for several other local service providers. To help maintain Cloud 9 as a valued contributor to the Tamborine Mountain community, there are two restrictions: (a) NO FUNCTIONS or PARTIES; and (b) NO PETS.

Tamborine Mountain - The Green Behind the Gold Coast

Cloud 9 is a scenic, 35-minute drive from the classic beaches of the Gold Coast, 1 hour from metropolitan Brisbane and a world away from anywhere.

Tamborine Mountain is actually a remnant volcanic plateau 8 kms long, 5 kms wide and some 550 metres above sea level. It is lofted above the hinterland between the Pacific Ocean and the Great Dividing Range. The mountain is an island in the sky, surrounded by primaeval subtropical rainforest, home to around 7000 people and a sanctuary for the native flora and fauna.

Birdwatchers and photographers especially appreciate the variety of some very rare species. Lyrebirds, parrots, cockatoos and lorikeets, tawny frog mouth, whip birds and inquisitive bowerbirds populate the rainforests. Elusive platypuses live in the clear mountain creeks and at night the glow worms glow in the forest caves.

The embracing beauty of the mountain has attracted many writers, poets, artists, artisans and visitors. Original gifts and mementos can be purchased at the many galleries and antique shops across the mountain. There is a local producer's market every Sunday from 8.00 am at the Showgrounds with the main farmer's markets every second Sunday of the month (at the Showgrounds) and every last Sunday of the month (opposite Tamborine Mountain State School).
