Everything you want in a holiday
Hawks Nest is a coastal paradise within 2 hours easy reach of Sydney. It features a 42 km long beach which is surely one of the most pristine beaches the world has to offer. You can choose to swim between the patrolled Bennetts surf beach or use a 4WD to find a private spot of your own, there is so much to choose from. There is also the family friendly Jimmys beach which looks over to Nelson Bay, which in itself is a lovely ferry trip, rarely without dolphin sightings.
Theres as much to do here or as little as you please, there is plenty of quiet spaces if you plan to put your feet up. Escape the daily grind and relax and unwind, surrounded on all sides by water and the rolling waves of the Pacific Ocean to the east, the quieter waters and beaches of Port Stephens to the south and the beautiful Myall Lakes to the west. The Myall Lakes National Park covers an area of 44,000 hectares in which can be found 10,125 hectares of lakes, and the Mungo Brush National Park offers a great bushwalking opportunity. You can 4WD along the beach, or walk to the top of Yacaaba Headland, about an hours upward walk/climb – pretty challenging, however, children love it and the views are brilliant.
Recreation is unlimited, there is a first class golf course, world renowned diving spots, deep sea fishing, dolphin watching cruises, sailing, windsurfing as well as outstanding cafes and restaurants. Visit Broughton Island and the National park just off the coast for a remarkable day trip, often with migrating whale sightings. Hawks Nest also features a Koala reserve and it is not unusual to see Koalas when walking the quieter streets.
Everything you need for your holiday can be found in Hawks Nest.
