A Stayz property since Nov 2011

- 12 acres
- 2.5 hours from Sydney
- Accommodation for up to 16 people.
- Total isolation (you can’t see a neighbour and you can’t see the house from the road).
- 200 metres of river frontage (Shoalhaven River) – safe for children.
- Short walk to the southern end of Seven Mile Beach.
- Tennis court.
- Space and freedom to totally relax and enjoy a family/group getaway.

The house offers 4 double bedrooms upstairs and two bunkrooms downstairs. Sleeps 16 all up. There are three bathrooms and one separate toilet facility in the laundry. A large open plan kitchen/ dining and a large loungeroom open out to a wrap-round verandah with a view straight down to the river. The 200m river frontage is about 150m from the house.

Great in summer with water sports at your doorstep and equally as wonderful in winter, with the cosiness of a slow combustion timber burning fireplace.
Upstairs offers a 'parents' retreat', opening to a verandah, which like the rest of house, overlooks the beautiful Shoalhaven river. The property also boasts a full-sized tennis court and cabana, great for the active and the competitive. And for something a bit different there is a hangi and spit roast area - geat for slow cooked meals in spring and autumn. Finish the meal with a beer or a glass of wine as you gaze at the beautiful night sky.

Recreational activities

Tennis
River Beach: the Shoalhaven River frontage immediately in front of the house is quite shallow and ideal for small children under supervision.
River: calm and safe for boating, canoeing, windsurfing etc.
Ocean Beach: A short walk from the house. It is the southern end of Seven Mile Beach which is pristine and always relatively free of people even in peak holiday times. There is a patrolled area at Shoalhaven Heads SLSC in the summer (just along the beach a little to the north).
Beach Fishing: fantastic beach fishing with pippies and worms as bait being plentiful on the beach.
River Fishing: Quite good and best from the N.W. corner all the way along to the ferry.
Hiking: the property borders the National Park. A good 10km hike is to follow the road from the front gate east and then south through the park and along a 4WD track to the south end of the Island. This can be combined with a short trek out to the southern end of the beach (the break wall on the Crookhaven River) and hike back along the beach. There are other paths between the 4WD track and the beach to shorten the distance.
For the more adventurous you can hike along the river, through Shoalhaven Heads and up Mt Coolangatta.
Cycling: good safe cycling around the road to the breakwall at the southern end of the island and back; to the ferry, or just around the property.

Features

The house provides basic amenities, with a dishwasher, microwave, TV and DVD/CD player, with an IPod jack.
The kitchen is spacious with an open plan, allowing for integration of all guests.
A barbeque sits on the verandah for outdoor cooking.

The kitchen is not new, nor is the furni
ture, but it fits with the casual appeal of the property. Linen is not provided, but there are pillows and doonas.
A washing machine and dryer are in the separate laundry.
There are three fridges giving plenty of room to stock up for the week or weekend.

What's nearby?

SHOALHAVEN HEADS: You can see it across the river and is a relatively short walk. This is a small village that has basic shopping with two convenience stores, a small hardware store, a pub and a bowling club. The bowling club has recently been refurbished and is a relaxing place to enjoy the usual club facilities and a reasonably priced meal.

GREENWELL POINT: Only about 10-15 minutes away and fantastic if you want to purchase oysters straight off the leases. There is a pub, a couple of restaurants and a bowling club. Or buy some fish and chips and sit beside the river.

JERVIS BAY: the pristine waters of Jervis Bay are about 20 minutes away. You can access the eastern side of the Bay and the beautiful Long Beach by taking the road to Currarong.

NOWRA: this is the nearest major centre for shopping, with supermarkets (Woolworths, Coles, Aldi and IGA), hardware stores (Bunnings, Mitre 10 and Home), Doctors, Vets etc. It’s a 10 minute drive, but a world away, from the tranquillity of the Island.

But the best thing is that you don't have to go anywhere if you don't want to. There is plenty to do without leaving the property. Play tennis, cricket, swim, fish, and walk. Cook, eat, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.
