From the moment you enter through the electronic gates the feeling of seclusion and quality are evident. Sweeping driveway and wide gradual steps lead you across the wide verandah to the large solid timber and stainless steel entrance doors.
High vaulted ceilings create a sense of grandeur as you enter the wide hallway adjacent to the large living room. This room is a sophisticated space with three large couches, an open fire, numerous bureaus and a large coffee table complete with high quality coffee table books and the latest magazines.
An ipod docking station, T-Box (Bigpond movies on demand), flat screen TV's with DVD's meet all your entertainment requirements.
A discreet bar fridge is stocked with snacks and drinks - an honour cellar applies. Only the best quality teas and coffee are supplied.
There is a truly sumptuous light filled bathroom with a separate toilet. Ample vanity space with double hand basins, large mirrors, heated floors and towel rails complete your modern ensuite.
A BBQ and outdoor setting, exclusively yours and under cover, with a wonderful view to the dam beyond, lends itself to alfresco dining on warm nights.
A kitchenette is equipped with microwave, induction cooktop, coffee machine, fridge and all the kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery you will need.
A large dining table and chairs completes the picture where you can linger over a late breakfast, reading the daily paper (delivered each morning), catch up on some internet surfing (free wireless internet access) or play a game of scrabble.
Aldgate has wonderful walking trails; criss crossing laneways, paddocks, no through roads, creeks and parks. Set off from your accommodation for a quick 10 minute walk to the village or ask about the many trails walked by the owners over the years ranging from half an hour to half a day.
If experiencing good food and wine are on your list of ;must do's' there is much to choose from and all within a short drive; Petaluma is just around the corner with its amazing working water wheel and the outstanding Bridgewater Mill Restaurant; Shaw and Smith, Nepenthe, Hahndorf Hill all have cellar doors within 15 mins with another 15 cellar doors just a little further out. Pick up a Cheese & Wine Trail Hamper from Udder Delights in Hahndorf before you head off. Locavore, our award winning restaurant in Stirling (5 mins), practices the 100 mile diet etho's, great local produce and the regions finest wines are featured on the menu. Try The White House in Hahndorf for a sophisticated brunch or The Table (Stirling) for generous sized elegant food. The oh, so, cool Stirling Hotel, the quaint Aldgate Pump Hotel or the picturesque beer garden at the Bridgewater Inn - they are all within five mins drive .. you really are spoilt for choice and these are just a few.
The historic town of Hahndorf is a 5 minute drive away where you can easily while away the whole day. From Art Galleries to clothes shops, great little eateries, german bakeries, specialist gift shops, puppeteers, knife shops, traditional candlemakers there is so much to see. Start at the Hahndorf Academy and Visitor Centre, they will let you know what's new in town and don't leave without visiting Hans Heysen's family home and art studio The Cedars.
We are crazy about dogs here and even though our accommodation is truly luxurious your dogs are welcome inside at any time. They're not supposed to get on the furniture, but if you use the throw rugs supplied how would we know?
