A place of escape is something we all dream about. A place of sanctuary, a place to enjoy nature. There is time for inspiration and rejuvenation.
Treetops is a tranquil haven high in the trees with spectacular ocean views. Your only neighbours are birds and visiting wildlife.
The house is architect designed, featuring beautiful wood beams and intriguing angles and nooks over three levels, with lots of light and open spaces.
It has ALL AMENITIES (see Features list below), with a beautiful ambience to relax, to meditate or indulge in yoga. An enchanting house for two or to have fun with friends. It sleeps up to 8 - there are 3 bedrooms.
The tree canopy gives cool summer shade. A large balcony and BBQ suits happy summer al fresco dining. Read at the window seat, surrounded by birds. The jutting lounge seems to float in space beside the trees. Exposed beams throughout continue the timber theme.
For a sensual revitalising visit use our Yoga and meditation mats, books and videos. You can loaf by the fire, watch the DVDs or listen to CDs, visit the local pub, take a refreshing swim in the great southern ocean, or just explore the rocks.
In the morning you'll wake to the sound of the waves. Upstairs, as you lie in bed, you look through bluegum leaves to the sea below. Often there's a few parrots on the balcony waiting for breakfast.
Romance warning! Treetops is a magic place that unleashes the romance in our souls. We had 2 Marriage Proposals in early 2007, both accepted, congratulations to Nicole& Phil, Michelle and Clint.
Guest comments from Anna:
"I stayed at Treetops with two friends over from England for a wedding. We all said we want to live here. The house has everything.
Everything fits together, from the Aboriginal paintings to the fire to the book on the birds. And all the details just work, there's nothing more we might want.
Some other friends stayed in Separation Creek, and we said, 'You have to come and have a look at this house!'.
My friends loved breakfast on the balcony, and the birds, MY GOD, HOW MANY BIRDS! They just knew what time to come to be fed. There was even a Koala nearby, and we went for a drive and saw lots more..."
Dont forget Fido, Lulu or Rex- yes our safe lockable balcony, stair protectors and sheets for the sofas mean we are DOG FRIENDLY. Outside there is a secure area with a one metre high dog fence.
LAYOUT & SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS are shown in great detail in the IMAGE GALLERY (link at the top of the page) plus lots of photos! There is an Ensuite bathroom to one of the 3 bedrooms, making Treetops popular for multiple couples.
Treetops is in constant demand from our returning guests - see our guest comments below, all genuine.
Treetops has been rented for over ten years, and our returning guests tell us that it is getting better every year, as we add small things to the experience. 2005 it was the aboriginal paintings, the beachcombers' treasurebox, and the upgraded pet facilities. 2006 it was the rock painting done by an outstanding local aboriginal artist. In 2007 the huge bird-feeding deck high in the trees.

It's 15 minutes from Lorne, set on the Great Ocean Road at the beginning of the rain forest. Wye is a little village with nothing but rainforest and a beautiful beach.
Sometimes there are Black Cockatoos and Gang Gangs calling from the ridge, and more often the chatter of King Parrots, or screech of Cockies. On the balcony of Treetops, the Magpies, Parrots and Kookaburras eat from your hands. And after the ruckuss of feeding, the Parrots have gone and the tiny Red Browed Finches clean up the last fragments of seed.
Often we have a visiting Koala, George, munching leaves in the tree within metres of the lounge window. At night, you'll hear the strange grunts of more Koalas in the rainforest.
You can swim or walk on the pristine beach, surf the waves and the rocks are popular for fishing.
You can drive on to Apollo Bay via the Great Ocean Road. Winding, spectacular. Close to the waves. Lots of places to stop, and just watch. And at Apollo Bay there are fresh crayfish all year round at the Co-op.
LOCATION
Wye River is just over two hours from Melbourne on the Great Ocean Road fifteen minutes past Lorne.
The village has a friendly local store, and an outdoor cafe where you can have a cooked breakfast or a real coffee metres from the beach.
The local pub, the Wye Beach Hotel (featured on "Getaway") is well known as one of the best places to eat on the Great Ocean Road - it has great meals, a fabulous outlook, and the local Kookaburras come each day to be fed on the balcony.
For dog lovers, you can take your dog to the tables in the carpark below the pub, and eat with them outside while enjoying the view. Dogs are allowed on the long south part of the beach all year round.
“Our third time here in a year and still can't get enough. This time bought my sister and her two kids from the US. We saw starfish and crabs in the tidal pools, and feeding the parrots made our day. Molly, the labrador feels right at home!” Stephanie and Molly. Feb 08
"Just when you think you've been the best places, Treetops comes along! It tops the list! The birds are awesome, we could watch them all day. We saw the biggest koala ever drinking water from the river under the Wye bridge. Sorry to be leaving this special place and the indigenous art. Loved it!!" Barb and Kevin, Queensland. Oct 06
"I wanted to just let you know also that the setup of the house was superb! We have stayed in many holiday houses and different accommodation in Victoria and South Australia and I can say that Treetops is kitted out the best! It looks like you put a lot of thought into small details. Very nice." Andy J, June 05
You can always count on nature to bring you back to peace. Wye River has it all. L&D Aug 04
