Description
A classic Aussie 'milkhouse' has been restored and converted to a 2 bedroom cottage with lots of interesting mixes of the old and the new. Includes underfloor heating in bathroom, gas log fire and working Early Kooka stove (as well as more modern cooking options including a barbeque).
The conversion from 'milkhouse' to cottage works really well and provides a fun and interesting accommodation experience. The cottage won a regional National Trust award in 2000 for its restoration.
It has a great ambience and is a lovely haven with a peaceful, rural feel and all the convenience of being very close to the town centre.
We can comfortably accommodate groups of 10 by using the other 3 double rooms which form part of our B&B accommodation just a few metres away from the cottage.
NB Min night stay group booking packages apply for car race and other special events. October Car Race package is for 5 nights minimum stay and up to 6 people.
Locality
Bathurst is in a great position for an enjoyable visit to the Central West - Explorer Country. Located close to Orange, Mudgee, Cowra and the attractions of the Blue Mountains it is en route to the Dubbo Zoo and roughly equidistant from Sydney and Canberra.
Bathurst was the first city west of the Blue Mountains and has a fascinating history, a wealth of historical homes, heritage buildings and gardens and a couple of main streets (with old gas lamps) wide enough to turn a bullock team.
Mt Panorama and the motor racing museum are great drawcards while others come for the wonderful monthly Grower's Market and to sample the attractions of the burgeoning food and wine industry.
The Australian Fossil Museum, Regional Gallery, shopping in Keppel Street, cafes, restaurants, and forays to the many outlying historical towns such as Sofala, Hill End, Carcoar, Millthorpe are all possibilities during a stay in Bathurst.
We also throw in some dramatic seasonal changes (just for fun) as you explore the spectacular countryside of the region.
