Description
Cliff Top Hideaway is nestled on a boundary of coastal reserve perched above 30 meter high sandstone cliffs with a view of all of the islands in the Huon river mouth.
It is set amongst two and a half acres of coastal forest with abundant local flora and fauna.
We have counted 28 species of bird from the front verandah including the rare swift parrots! Maybe you can find more or put some meat scraps out in the evening and watch the eastern quolls feeding from the comfort of the cosy fireside lounge!
Step off the front verandah and wander down the coastal track, 5 minutes to the pristine Mickeys beach or continue via a nature reserve for a one hour return stroll to the beautiful Randalls bay.
The waters below the cliffs provide great snorkeling and kayaking (BYO Kayaks and gear) with kelp beds to explore and the fishing in the region is great.
When active you can watch the Aurora Australis (the southern lights) from the front verandah!
Due to the close proximity of the cliffs this rental property is not recommended for young children.
The shack itself has been recently renovated and is clean, cosy and warm and still retains it,s rustic charm as a classic Tasmanian weekender.
It is an open plan design with two sleeping areas, one with a multi bunk and the other with a queen bed which has a glorious view of the coast. There are also two futon lounges which fold down to doubles.
The lounge has a wood heater and there is a tv/dining room as well as a separate kitchen.
All rooms have coastal or bushland views including the bathroom where you can soak in a lovely old cast iron bath whilst looking out to sea.
There is ample parking space for your car, boat or van.
Cliff Top Hideaway is only 15 minutes drive from the township of Cygnet where you can dine out or pick up your supplies and wander through the many shops and galleries.
Hobart city is just under one hour drive and you can choose three alternate routes including the scenic coastal drive via Kettering.
Cliff Top Hideaway is a great base to explore Tasmania's beautiful south from, with most tourist attractions within two hours drive or just kick back and enjoy the views and walks from home!
