Hillview is the only remaining former Vice Regal retreat in Australia. Set on a commanding summit with majestic views. Originally built in the 1850s, Hillview was the country retreat for the governors of NSW between 1882 and 1958. Hillview is an eclectic mix of architectural styles, creating a very unusual house and is of State Heritage significance for numerous reasons. It encompasses over 2000 square metres of buildings, which are surrounded by 7 acres of parks and garden. These are reached via a 1km tree lined serpentine drive that meanders through the 150 acre property; which also features a former Cricket ground, market garden and orchard. The 16 Governors (Earls, Lords etc) left the best house in Sydney for the informality of this wonderful Southern Highlands estate, entertaining Regal guests including; The Prince of Wales, Prince Edward and Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
Now conserved and adapted as a Country House Hotel and waiting to be a home away away from home for you and your loved ones.
The former Aide-de-Camp suite is a private fully self contained suite of rooms. Complete with continental breakfast hamper and complimentary local wine on arrival, crackling open fire with love seat, reverse cycle heating, ensuite with original claw foot bath, shower, king size bed, electric blankets, sitting room with long reaching views over the valley and private courtyard.

Complete with continental breakfast hamper and complimentary local wine on arrival, crackling open fire, gas heating, ensuite with orignal claw foot bath, shower, king size bed, electric blankets, two large sitting rooms and private court yard. Your beloved pets will be very welcome and will enjoy the comforts of the Managers Cottage.
The kitchen is humble but sweet and contains a full size oven and cook top, microwave and fridge. The property is located only a short cab drive (2.5kms) from Moss Vale and is only 12kms from Bowral and Berrima with all the dining and shopping delights the Southern Highlands villages and towns have to offer.
Picnic on High at Hillview
Hillview provides a lovely weekend escape to the country. Picnic rugs and hampers are a perfect match for the long established significant garden. Long walks around the garden and park are encouraged, or just pick a shady tree, a book and relax.
Dogs love Hillview; and Hillview loves dogs! Walk the drive or the 150 acres to your dogs content and delight.
If your dog is a much loved member of the family we understand how important it is to have him/her included in your holiday experience!
You are welcome to wander the 150 acre property, parks and gardens to your dogs delight.... and if your dog is used to sleeping indoors with the family that is fine by us!
The Managers Cottage also has a fully fenced and secure grassed court yard for your pets holiday pleasure.
