Description
One of the most striking houses on the Mornington Peninsula, this house has been clad in 13.5km of flat metal bar which is held in place by 36,000 screws all individually painted with a small artists brush!
It has been specifically set-up to comfortably accomodate family groups of holiday-makers. 5 bedrooms in all; the master is enormous with it's own ensuite and a Queen bed, 2 other smaller bedrooms also have Queen beds. The 4th bedroom has 2 single bunks and a trundle sleeping 5 in all, (ideally suited for children or adolescents altho they can sleep adults). The final bedroom is setup primarily as a study / retreat but contains a comfortable fold out couch (double size).
The custom built dining table has been constructed from recycled baltic pine floorboards, oregon legs and hardwood rails. It easily seats 12. The 10 leather chairs surrounding the table can be supplemented with outdoor chairs as required.
The outdoor table (also custom made for the space) really is unique. Constructed from cypress and treated pine with merbau it happily seats 13 and has a 4 burner BBQ embedded into the head of the table. A significant part of the thinking here was to keep the BBQ chef a part of the evening festivities while they are cooking. You will all be at the same table! To keep you from turning crimson the table also has a shade roof and solar lights.
The living area has ample seating for 10 with 3 couches surrounding a 46 inch full HD Sony Bravia TV complete with DVD player, Playstation and a dynamite sound system.
Two huge glass doors open the living area out onto the front deck which has been built around a tea tree that we just couldn't bring ourselves to remove. The front garden has a beautiful stand of Moonah trees, a reflection pond and 2 car carport all carrying over the metal clad theme of the house.
The kitchen has all Blanco appliance including an espresso machine, induction cooktops, a dishwasher, oven and microwave. An open plan design flows from the kitchen and island bench through the dining area down into the living space and front deck.
2 bathrooms and a laundry with washing machine and dryer complete the house. Central heating will keep you warm, or air conditioning will keep you cool.
What's close?
A one kilometer walk in different directions will get you to the front or back beaches. The Blairgowrie shopping centre is 1.7km away and the area is saturated with golf clubs, pubs, restaurants, wineries and even a really great hot springs relaxation centre.
