Built in the early 1920's, this magnificent property is finally available for holiday letting to an exclusive few. Originally built by Harry Martyr of Martyrs Buslines, for decades it stood as one of Warburton's finest properties. Today it has undergone an extensive renovation, yet it's old age and character have been well retained.
The property is located across from the Yarra river, walking trails and is only a 400 metre walk to IGA, liquor, butcher and eateries.
However there is no need to leave; as a fully stocked kitchen including free range eggs and smoky bacon awaits. And breakfast each morning can be had in the garden, listening to your own private stream running through the rear of the property.
In summer you will enjoy the salt water inground pool, and lazing on the deck chairs as you sip champagne (supplied) and peer across the valley to views of mount Victoria. Too chilly? Relax in your 5 person outdoor spa, (heated to 39 degrees for your arrival) and enjoy its 76 therapeutic jets.
The kitchen is modern and a delight to work in. LPG gas powers the stove top, and from here you can watch the kids play hide and seek and hunt freshwater crays in the stream below. Watch them swim or enjoy a movie in surround sound; either way the floor plan is to die for.
Two wood heaters keep the house warm, along with the endless couches, cushions and blankets. A full size billiard table adorns the lounge, overlooking the front yard and it's 100 year old magnolia tree which also blankets the driveway in spring. A fully stocked games and toy cupboard is there for the kids, endless magazines and over 100 DVDs are available for viewing pleasure.
The main bedroom however is where you'll really wind down. A king size chiropractic bed awaits in true French fashion, with complete privacy and silence from the rest of the house. There are two more bedrooms with a queen bed and a double bunk in each. The billiard room also has a queen sofa couch, and this can be closed for privacy when required.
Sliding dishdraws, cake and muffin tins along with ample bench space make this a home not a house. The outdoor table seats 12 and the verandah is covered from inclement weather, allowing for all year round BBQ entertaining.
An unlimited supply of firewood is available, so happily burn away.
There are three toilets, two bathrooms, and one shower with endless hot water, towels and linen are all supplied. Remember your bathers!
What's next?
Warburton is one of Victoria's best kept secrets. If you're not active, stay at home. You will find it difficult enough to leave, but if you do - there's plenty on offer.
The south side is state forest and offers bush walking, four wheel driving and motor bike riding. The north side is national park, which you can view walking or mountain biking along the aqueduct trail. Watch for deer at morning and night. There's a 7 hour return bush walk to mount Victoria or a 36km walk out to poweltown. There's walks for everyone at any level.
The main street has some quirky shops and an atmospehere of times past. It's hard to believe you're only an hour from Melbourne.
An 18 hole golf course is in town but hiring a cart is a must. There are drives in all directions, outback hillbilly pubs, and an endless supply of wineries and eateries. Lake mountain is a one hour drive and Mount Donnabuang is 15 minutes or 17.45km to the top if you're a keen cyclist. The in house compendium details the many things to do.
Pets are not allowed.
To summarize the pricing, it applies for upto 6 people. $850 buys you the weekend and $2500 for a week. $40 extra per person per night. I'm not fussed on check in and check out. It's about your comfort, not my convenience.
