Pinkerton Hill at 40 Pinkerton Road is a large, country-style house on the eastern edge of Naracoorte. With five bedrooms and three bathrooms, it offers space and privacy to singles, couples, families and groups, including corporate guests.
A huge open living area comprises a modern kitchen and adjoining family room, dining room and sitting room.
The house has a king-sized bedroom, two queen-sized bedrooms, a double bedroom and a single bedroom.
There is undercover parking for two vehicles, ample driveway parking and a sheltered back verandah for barbecues.
The family room has a TV and DVD player and cable TV; and the sitting room has a TV and DVD player.
Pinkerton Hill’s main bathroom has a full-sized bath, shower and vanity; and the WC is in a separate adjoining room. There is also a two-person spa bathroom with vanity; and an ensuite bathroom with shower, vanity and WC. A third WC adjoins the laundry, which has a washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board.
The house has ducted reverse cycle air conditioning so you can adjust the heating or cooling to suit your comfort level. The wood-burning combustion heaters are very effective in winter.
The 3.5-star rated Pinkerton Hill House is one of four properties owned and run by Naracoorte Cottages. (The others are Limestone View, Smith Street Villa and MacDonnell House.) Richard Peake and Judy Barton established this people friendly Bed and Breakfast business in 1995 and have welcomed thousands of satisfied guests from South Australia, interstate and overseas. ??Pinkerton Hill offers comfort, convenience and cleanliness with all modern amenities.
The B&B is ideal for singles, couples, families and groups as well as corporate guests for short stopovers or a longer stay. We have a 2-night minimum on long weekends and a 3-night minimum at Easter. The house is private for one guest group at a time even if there are only two adults. The house has plasma TVs, DVD player, free local call telephone, free access to wireless broadband (BYO laptop or desktop computer).
Heating at Pinkerton Hill is provided by two combustion, wood-burning heaters which make the family room and the living room very cosy in cool weather. For cooling, there is ducted reverse cycle air conditioning throughout the house. Bed linen, towels and toiletries are provided.
Tariffs are value for money and include generous full breakfast provisions (eggs, bacon, tomatoes, fruit juice, boxed cereals, bread, jams and spreads, tea, instant coffee, coffee grounds and milk); and a complimentary 750ml bottle of wine with every booking. ??Naracoorte is home to the only World Heritage listed site in South Australia, the Naracoorte Caves National Park, 10km south of town. The park includes Wonambi Fossil Centre, telling the story of megafauna whose bones are preserved in fossil deposits, and caves with spectacular limestone formations, a Bat Cave and a cafe.
The Caves, 10km south of town, are open 9am to 5pm daily except on Good Friday and Christmas Day.
Naracoorte is also central to four premium wine regions, Coonawarra, Penola, Padthaway and Wrattonbully, within a 48km or 30 minute radius. Splash out in the large manmade Naracoorte swimming lake, with reticulated and chlorinated water and lifeguards on duty on very hot days. It is surrounded by lawns and shady trees, is free and is open from December 1 to March 31. ??
The town of Naracoorte has two seven-day supermarkets, three hotels, Thai and Chinese restaurants, a renowned family bakery, a French patisserie/chocolatier, McDonalds, Subway and many other takeaway food shops and a thriving shopping centre. ??The Commonwealth Bank, ANZ Bank, Westpac, National Australia Bank and BankSA all have branches in the town centre; and there are also the Peoples Choice credit union and a Bendigo Community Bank agency. Out of hours, you can draw money from six ATMs.
??Be sure to visit the award-winning The Sheep's Back wool industry museum, set in a historic three-storey former flour mill, and the Mini Jumbuk factory, where woollen bedding products for the world are made, and its visitor centre.
Naracoorte welcomes families to its many parks, including the Naracoorte Community Playground and Lions Pioneer Park, both in MacDonnell Street. Stroll, walk or run on the picturesque Naracoorte Creek Walk through the centre of town; and feed the geese on the pond in the Scout Hall grounds, off Park Terrace, near Naracoorte Holiday Park.
