Away from the demands of a busy life?
We offer peaceful accommodation in a comfortable 1 Br cabin, set in an established garden amongst birdlife on a 3 hectare property surrounded on three sides by the Gunbower creek.
The cabin is situated behind our house, providing security and privacy for our guests.
Just a short 850m stroll into town along the waters edge, or an 8km drive along Island Rd to the National park and the mighty Murray River or enjoy a scenic drive around the many waterways that surround Gunbower.
Dine-in or takeaway foods are available at the well known Gunbower Hotel and the
Roadhouse/Corner Store, or purchase the fresh tender steaks from Tom the local Butcher and cook when it suits.
Included in the cabin is tea, coffee, hot chocolate, a small fridge, microwave, health grill, toaster, kettle, crockery, cutlery, ironing facilities, linen, hair dryer, shampoo & conditioner and Split system air conditioner.
A free continental breakfast is supplied on the first morning.
A relaxation massage can be arranged.
Laundry facilities are available on request.
Cabin serviced weekly on extended stays or as requested.
Semi-attached to East on the Creek is a huge rustic outdoor eating area. "The Shack" is available for guests to use but should be booked for special events. Set amongst a native garden and a short distance from the creek, the shack is the ideal venue for small garden weddings, casual parties, bird watching groups or tourists to stop and have their morning tea or lunch. It seats 70 people under cover and has a full kitchen. BYO food, or catering can be arranged. Tea and coffee facilities available.
This unique area also provides the perfect opportunity for the blokes to pitch their tent and enjoy a bush BBQ near the creek, with the kitchen sink and bathroom nearby for the ladies. ( Check with fire restrictions.)
Gunbower is the gateway to Australia's largest inland Island which covers an area of 22,000 hectares. The Island is home to many native animals and over 100 different species of birds. This makes the area a popular tourist attraction for camping, fishing, bird watching, bush walking, cycling, tourist drives, kayaking or an opportunity to just relax ,unstress and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Gunbower is situated along the Murray Valley Highway, 2 1/2 hours drive from Melbourne and central to the regions attractions.
45 km from Echuca/Moama, well known for the River boats, clubs, cinemas, heated swimming pool and gym, Restaurants and clubs
25 km from Torrumbarry weir and the interpretation centre.
25 km from Mt Hope where you can enjoy a picnic or try your skills at rock climbing.
6 km from Kow swamp, a popular picnic and fishing spot.
23 km from Cohuna, popular for the golf course, water sports and fishing.
45 km from Koondrook/Barham, scenic river walks, the clubs and pokies.
