Freshwater Beach
Freshwater Beach is one of the safest and most protected beaches on the Northern Beaches and perfect for families. It is the birthplace of surfing in Australia. Lifeguards patrol the beach from October to April. The secluded beach also boasts a pristine 50m-rock pool, sand dunes and a park with picnic facilities. The beach is great for swimming, body surfing, surfing, rock fishing and snorkeling (we provide two skim boards and three boogie boards).
Activities:
Harbord Diggers (RSL) is directly across the road, with restaurants, gym, indoor swimming pool and lawn bowls with Ocean views. The famous Harbord Beach Hotel (Harbord Hilton) is a short walk from the south side of the beach, perfect for lunch, dinner or a cool drink after a hot day.
Freshwater village is a 10-minute walk away. The village has a variety of shops including a great fruit and vegetable market/delicatessen, a butcher, baker, mid-sized supermarket, restaurants and cafes.
Walk to Manly and take a ferry to the City, from where you can visit the fish markets, Darling Harbour, the historical Rocks area, Luna Park and Taronga Zoo.
Eating out:
Freshwater boasts a variety of dining options, from casual Mexican and Thai Restaurants along the main street to the highly regarded Pilu at Freshwater, right on the shores of the beach. Let's not forget how close Manly is to this property, just ten minutes away by car or bus. Manly offers a host of restaurants and nightlife. The Sydney CBD is a 20-minute ferry ride from Manly so sightseeing is a breeze.
