Description
Imagine... Waking to the sound of the waves rolling onto the sandy beach, watching the vibrant colours of the sun rising over the ocean horizon!
Contemplate... A swim or a walk along the pristine beach before enjoying breakfast on your private balcony overlooking the changing beauty of the Pacific Ocean.
Just another day dawning at the Executive Beachhouse in Culburra Beach.
This stunning property sits on the crest of the sand dunes at Culburra Beach next to a nature reserve so there is a feeling of seclusion rarely found in beachfront properties today this close to Sydney.
From the guestbook July 2012.
We had such a lovely weekend and the weather was actually quite nice on Friday and Saturday. The beach house has everything you could possibly want. I LOVE your new lounge, so much so that I only left the house to walk along the beach. And most other times I could be found lying on the end of that lounge in the sun reading, napping or just staring at the ocean. Having the paper delivered is yet another great thing , I can't remember the last time I actually sat down and read the whole of Saturdays paper in one sitting. And the garden has really grown since we were last there and looks great. The citrus trees will be beautiful when they have matured a bit.
And I spotted a pod of dolphins from the deck.
We will definitely be returning to the executive beach house. I didn't want to leave. Thank you so much for providing such a perfect place to run away from reality.
From our guestbook November 2011
" Just spent 5 days in your beautiful house celebrating turning 40. What a wonderful way to enjoy a birthday. Thank you Chris and Murray for the thoughtful touches that make the house feel like a home. We are already planning our next visit."
"Thank you for a wonderful holiday. We had planned to do a few trips around the region but found it so peaceful and relaxing here at your home, that we ended up spending most of our time here!...going to the beach, playing snooker, feeding the birds and just enjoying the views! Thanks for a great 4 days and we look forward to coming back "
From our guestbook January 2011.
"Wow. Fabulous house. Great location, excellent facilities and an all round brilliant holiday. What can we say, this house has everything, from dinner under the stars and moonlight over the ocean to watching the dolphins playing, nice beach swims and relaxing walks.
Local produce is brilliant. Great day trips, off the beaten track drives, champagne on the beach watching the full moon, fishing, tennis, cycling, music, table tennis, pool/snooker and most importantly relaxing listening to the surf.
We loved every moment!

" We had such a wonderful time at your lovely beach house. You've done such a good job of decorating the place and making sure everything is catered for.
It was the perfect weekend away with 6 girls to farewell our friend who is moving to the UK."
From Guestbook September 2010
Dear Chris,
I just wish to express my thanks for our delightful stay in your beach house at Culburra. Everything was perfect and I really appreciate the time and love you put into the house and all the inclusions. It was delightful and I will certainly return for a much longer stay!! The beach is so beautiful and we met your dolphin family who loved playing with us and followed us as we walked along the beach. We chatted to them and for as long as we did that they stayed with us. It was such fun. It was our dear friend's 60th birthday and she lives in Nowra thus we thought it a great area to stay.
From the Guestbook December 2009.
"Thank you Chris for our delightful stay at your beautiful beach house. It was so peaceful and private and well equipped. We felt so close to nature with the beautiful sunrises and changing seascapes. Your resident kookaburra and beautiful native birds were a delight. We loved your native garden and private path to the beach. We look forward to returning next year.
Kerry and Warwick.

"The Executive Beachhouse at Culburra is a wonderful holiday home, in a brilliant location. The beach is a very short stroll away and the sounds of the sea welcome you from the moment you walk in the door. The owners have ensured that all of your needs and much more have been catered for, even with two toddlers. From the modern furniture, well-stocked kitchenware and comfortable bedrooms to the games room, outdoor showers and spacious living with views. We had a fabulous holiday, visiting different beaches in the area, then coming home to the Beachhouse to enjoy all that it had to offer. We were very impressed with the property overall and look forward to our next visit!"

The furnishings, equipment, design and general good taste were a delight to experience. A few days in a place like this made us feel a little younger! Congratulations on developing such a beautiful property."

The kitchen is ideal , in the hub of all the activity and very well stocked right down to the rice cooker and ice cream maker! Plus the " reading area" with a wide array of books, magazines and also music.
A warm and friendly environment. Would love to visit again"

Locality
Culburra Beach was named after an Aboriginal word meaning "sand" in 1916. It is an easy drive of 2 and a half hours down the coast from Sydney, 3 hours from Canberra and only 15 minutes from Nowra.
The township of Culburra Beach was designed by the famous American architect and town planner Walter Burley Griffin. Culburra Beach is renowned for its lakes, beaches, swimming, fishing, surfing, kitesurfing, snorkelling, sailing, windsurfing and boating (boat ramp close to beachhouse). Culburra Beach comprises two beaches (Culburra and Warrain Beach) and is nestled close to Crookhaven River, Lake Wollumboola and Curleys Bay.
There are some picturesque walking tracks from the Crookhaven Heads lighthouse and around Lake Wollumboola. There is also a bike track at the end of our quiet cul de sac which takes you to the lighthouse and the shops.
There is easy access to shops and services. Other attractions: tennis courts, Bowling Club, chinese restaurant, pizzeria, cafes, BWS bottle shop, hairdresser, beautician, bakeries, petrol stations, Post Office, video shop, Woolworths supermarket, chemist, bait shop at the local hardware surf shop, and access to atms.
The relaxed mood of Culburra is summed up by Max Dupain's celebrated photograph, 'The Sunbather' , which he shot on Culburra Beach. A copy of this famous shot is is in one of our bedrooms. Artists have been attracted to the beauty of the area, the most famous being Arthur Boyd who for many years had a house just up the road .
Great day trips or mornings out to Kangaroo Valley, Berry, Hyams and Currarong Beaches.Honeymoon Bay and Jervis Bay, local wineries, markets, bush walks and local restaurants ensure you will always have something to do if you can leave the serenity of the beach house.
There appear to be increasing numbers of whales migrating from May to December. Both the local dolphins and whales can be seen from our kitchen living areas and large decks. September through to the beginning of December the mothers return with their calves.
