Comfortably accommodating 6 people, DRIFT comprises of one queen-bedroom, one double-bedroom, and a double bunk bedroom.
- Wraparound northeast balcony offering tree framed views of the lake sandbar and ocean
- Open-plan living and dining spaces with polished timber floors and a slow combustion heater (wood supplied on a seasonal basis)
- TV, DVD and a mini sound system with I-pod dock, CD, and radio
- A full kitchen including a dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, mixer, cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, saucepans etc
- An outdoor gas BBQ and outdoor table setting provide dining alternatives
- Seasonal weight doonas, a blanket and plenty of pillows for each bed
- Laundry facilities include an automatic washer, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board
- An additional shower (outdoors) and a second separate WC aid the water-sports enthusiasts
- Carport and off street area for your boat

At DRIFT you might just put your feet up, and relax with some music, read a book, or watch a DVD from our libraries. Maybe you'll do some drawings of the abundant local bird-life (including azure kingfishers and scrub turkeys) or just dose-off to the distant rhythm of the waves breaking on the sandbar.

Location

A scenic 3-hour drive north of Sydney, Smiths lake is one of three Great Lakes that comprise the lake district, and is located on the Lakes Way. Foster is a short 20 minutes drive to the North. Surrounded by beach fringed national parks, DRIFT at Smiths Lake is the ideal location for a holiday or a retreat.

The friendly village of Smiths Lake provides all your day to day requirements with an excellent baker, grocery/corner store, butcher, cafe / takeaway and a liquor store. Local facilities include a children’s playground, public BBQ, a boat ramp, and public reserves where you can stroll the high-tide-line around the lake perimeter, affording spectacular views across the lake and sandbar to the Pacific Ocean.

Calm lake beaches, such as Amaroo, are within walking distance of DRIFT, and provide safe bathing for children. Alternatively, you can scoot across the lake to Sandbar (Cellito) ocean beach with your surfboard. Then there's the idyllic white-sand beaches of Bluey’s, Boomerang, or Seal Rocks offering great surf breaks - wondrous rock pools - sheltered swimming bays backing onto national parks - just a 5 minute drive away. Seal Rocks is a spectacular underwater diving and caving location.

Stroll down to the local ‘Frothy Coffee‚ boat-shed cafe and enjoy a latte or lunch. Check with the folks behind the counter if you'd like to hire a boat to visit the islands, fish the lake, or explore the creeks that flow into the lake.

Perhaps you'll prefer to pack a picnic and meander some of the many walking trails to the lookouts in Booti Booti National Park, or visit the lighthouse of Seal Rocks. Or you could stand in awe under the tallest tree growing in the nearby Wallinghat National Park.
If you prefer to be waited on stroll to the Lake Cafe at Smiths Lake village, or venture out to restaurants and cafes at Bluy's Beach or Boomerang Beach such as the Buddah on the Lake at Moby's, or order dinner and a drink at the lakeside Pacific Palms Recreation club - and sit by the lake to watch the colours change at sunset.
Forster, a 20-minute drive to the north, offers a cinema complex, numerous restaurants, a couple of large shopping centres, dolphin and whale watching cruises, sea-kayak adventures, or visit a couple of children's theme parks.
