Description

Tourism NSW describes Red Rock as the closest thing to heaven on earth!

Corymbia Cottage sits opposite the forested section of Red Rock Reserve, with lovely views and almost no passing traffic. Stroll along the level path through the reserve to the boat ramp. Look out for a variety of bird and plant life as you pass through coastal heath, melaleuca and tall eucalypt forest, and mangrove woodland. Allow 40 minutes each way. Or take the short cut - less than 10 minutes - skirting around littoral rainforest. The boat ramp reserve offers shady picnic tables, children's playground and shop with basic supplies and takeaway food. Fish, swim, snorkel or just relax in the shade and watch the tide ebb and flow before wandering home to your private retreat.

About the Cottage

Welcome to Corymbia Cottage - rumoured to be the most popular holiday cottage in Red Rock! This is our own much loved holiday home-away-from-home. It is therefore very well maintained, comfortably furnished and family friendly with cot, highchair and baby bath to make travel a little easier for young families. Located just a few minutes' stroll from the water, with very quiet permanent neighbours on each side, Corymbia Cottage enjoys a private setting away from it all, and undisturbed views across the reserve.

The kitchen is fully equipped with gas oven, microwave and table settings for eight. There's plenty of pots and pans to cook up a storm, and a great BBQ out on the back deck. Or you could try the Bowling Club or village take-away for fish and chips by the water.

The lounge has seating for seven, a small TV, DVD player, radio and CD player with iPOD connection, a selection of parlour games and plenty of books.

The main bedroom has a queen bed and balcony with outdoor setting looking across the reserve. The second bedroom has two single beds. Both rooms are spacious and have ample built-in storage. The third bedroom is the 'sleepout' - a trundle bed (single with second bed stored underneath) on the enclosed verandah.

We supply doonas, blankets and plenty of pillows. Our doona covers and pillow cases are 100% cotton, from the top quality 'Sheridan' range, and the queen bed has a Sealy Posturepedic matress. All washable items are laundered frequently. You'll need to bring top and bottom sheets for all beds, pillowcases, bath towels and hand towels OR we can supply luxury Egyptian cotton bedlinen and bath towels (available for Queen bed only) for an additional $35 per booking.

There are two dining areas: a 6-seater setting on the enclosed verandah (great for summer evenings), plus a 4-seater dining table indoors, and 2 seats at the breakfast bar.

The bathroom is bright and clean with separate bath and large shower, and plenty of storage space. There's also a (cold!) outdoor shower behind the house - for rinsing off after the beach.

The enclosed verandah has a small sofa and easy chair. It's our favourite spot to watch the sun set across the reserve and listen to the birds.

The cottage is fully screened, insulated, fan-cooled (including bedrooms) and operates on 100% green energy. Guests can enjoy our delicious rain water.

The house and verandah are wheelchair accessible - please contact us for details.

No smoking.
No pets allowed.
Corymbia Cottage is professionally cleaned before each tenancy.
We don't use an agent, so all communication and key pick-up is very quick and easy.

Things to do

Beach and estuary
Swimming, fishing, whale watching...
Swimming is hard work! At Red Rock you can jump in the river mouth and ride home with the incoming tide. Fish from the river or two beaches for flathead, jewfish and bream. April and November are the peak whale watching months, with over 2000 whales passing each season. Fishing and whale watching tours operate from Coffs Harbour. Swimming, snorkelling, canoeing and li-loing are all popular at the boat ramp.

Birdwatching
Corindi River separates Red Rock from Yuraygir National Park to the north. The estuary at Red Rock is home to one of the most southerly nesting pairs of Beach Stone Curlew. Other notable residents include Little Terns, Southern Emu Wrens and Ground Parrots. A full bird list for the park is provided in the Cottage. Please contact us by email if you have any specific birding questions.

Guest Reviews

  • "A great retreat for nature lovers who still like their comfort or for those who just want to relax in a peaceful setting. The screened-in porch was like another living area, and a great place to view the birds over breakfast, catch an afternoon nap or listen to the frogs calling in the evening. The kitchen was well kitted out and we appreciated the extras like the high-chair "
