Description

Merchant's Rest is a privately owned, executive style boutique apartment located within a low level development (completed November 2004). The northerly aspect allows plenty of natural light to the bedrooms and living area and affords tree-filtered glimpses of the Docklands precinct from the external terrace (especially nice at night).

Maximum occupancy is 4 persons PLEASE NOTE: BEDDING CONFIGURATION IS 2 x QUEEN SIZE BEDS & MOST SUITABLE FOR 2 x COUPLES .

Typical nightly rate varies according to duration of stay and number of persons but as a general guide is between $200-$300 depending upon seasonal and special event related demand. Please note also: a MINIMUM 5 night stay applies. Stays for longer periods of time (7 days) are charged on a weekly basis, which reduces the nightly rate further.

Please note that the apartments are not serviced (although it can be provided at an additional cost).

Location

South Melbourne sits on the fringe of the CBD and is a short tram ride (3-4 stops) to Southern Cross Station (formerly Spencer Street) or the Melbourne Convention Centre. Walking to the CBD takes approximately 10-15min.

South Melbourne Market and public transport, including the Light Rail, are at your doorstep and Clarendon Street shops, cafes and Albert Park Lake are all minutes away on foot.

Corporate Clients

We are fully equipped to cater for your needs. There is 24 hour fax and broadband internet access (for your lap top) available in the apartment and we will negotiate special rates if you are transferring interstate or from overseas and require accommodation for durations of between 2 weeks and 3 months.

Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre

A very short tram ride or 10-15min walk to the venue for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Excellent clean facilities for the recreational or serious swimmer. If fitness is your goal, why not jog to the park,lap the lake, swim in the competition pool and enjoy the walk back. Plenty of cafes to stop at along the way for breakfast.

South Melbourne Market

Full of fresh produce, meat, poultry, bakery goods and all manner of other bargains. Stop for a gelato or fruit smoothy or an excellent coffee and danish. The market is full of character and local "characters". Open Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Merchant's Rest is generously fitted out with everything necessary for a fuss free stay in Melbourne. The apartment is close to transport, the fabulous food markets, an interesting array of shops and more restaurants than one could hope to sample in several weeks. I have already told friends of this great place to stay in Melbourne.

Quality unit, with nothing left out. We spent 5 nights in the 2 bedroom unit and felt at home. Spacious, we had 4 people in the unit without difficulty. Kithen was functional and the entertainment units of flat screen tv with Foxtel a plus.

Great transport to city and MSAC as well as the markets across the road.

Unit has a manager who was very friendly, flexiable and helpful.


We will look to stay there again next year.

Fantastic apartment. Spotlessly clean. Tasteful modern decor and furniture. Great location beside South Melbourne Market and tram station. We were made very welcome by the manager of the apartment who told us everything we needed to know. Bowl of fruit and chocolates on arrival was a lovely touch. Very good value. We would definitely stay again.

our week's stay at Merchants rest was great and relaxing, the apartment was very comfortable with fully equiped kitchen, entertainment, internet and there was a home feel to it.Location was fantastic, easy access to the city, St.Kilda beach and restaurants, markets located opposite to the apartment were handy.Would definitely recommend this place to anyone, exceeded expectations and would love to come back soon.

Merchant's Rest 2 is fantastic. The facilities are excellent and the property is extremely well presented and well equipped. The kitchen has everything (utensils plus olive oil, condiments, sugar, mustard etc) so we needed to only buy groceries which we found directly opposite at South Melbourne markets (great selection of fresh produce, seafood and meats, delis and bakeries, etc). The neighbourhood is also wonderful - it has a lot of character with great cafes and boutiques. Also, the apartment is a few steps away from the tram and is a quick ride into the CBD. I would definitely stay here again with our baby.
Lindt chocolates, fresh fruit and flowers, and L'Occitane products on arrival were also appreciated. The accommodation was great value. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

I have just completed a 3 week stay at Merchants Rest 2, where I was pleasantly surprised to find a wonderfully kept and modern ppty in a fantastic location. I highly recommend this ppty and guarantee that you will not be disappointed. The ppty is fully equipped with more than the "usual" fully self contained apartment - including some CD's to listen to and some DVD's to watch. The owner is more than accommodating and was a pleasure to deal with. The point of contact for the ppty, was lovely and was at call 24/7. Overall I couldn't speak highly enough of this ppty and its location. I would definitely stay at MR2 again. Thanks for making my experience a more than memorable one.
