This is it!!! Escape to your own private paradise. Situated at Callala Bay on the northern side of Jervis Bay, the charm, warmth and appeal of Bay Cottage is sure to set the mood for a wonderful stay at an especially beautiful and relaxing holiday destination.
Enjoy stunning water views from Bay Cottage - a charming renovated original beach house - esp from the casual living and dining areas and fabulouse architect designed 2 level deck. Sip your bubbly from a sunlounge while you watch the children play on the grass or sand by the Bay. You can wake up to the gentle sound of lapping waves and sometimes spot the dolphins just in front of the cottage itself. Stroll from the garden to the beach for a swim and return for a meal without crossing a road. An outdoor hot and cold shower washes off the sand and sea. Snooze while the snags cook and you dry off in the sun.
The main cottage boasts two romantic bedrooms and a comfortable and well appointed living area. THe house has reverse cycling airconditioning to make it pleasant anytime. Relax and unwind in the gorgeous sunroom overlooking the Bay, while reading that novel you have been meaning to for ages. Cook in the well equipped kitchen which shares the idyllic view also. Enjoy the sea breeze or chill out with the aircon while listening to music, reading or watching TV.
In winter the slow combustion stove in the lounge will keep you warm while you toast the marshmallows. Long beach walks to refresh the soul and sleep like a baby in the comfortable beds.
Providing the perfect retreat for extra adults or children is a self-contained bunkroom, boasting its own TV, video, RC air conditioning, small second bathroom with shower and toilet, Queen sofa bed with 1 double bunk and one single and table and chairs. A large glass door opens onto a private front garden courtyard. Both house and bunkroom have been recently decorated and are furnished in a modern, casual style aimed at providing a relaxing beachside stay. If you are looking for a holiday destination that will delight you - this is one of those! With a combination of natural beauty and creature comforts, Bay Cottage will be be a perfect base for that mix of relaxation and adventure that makes for an unforgettable holiday.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES:
Water sports - swimming, surfing, snorkelling (Hare Bay is just up the beach, and very suitable for inexperienced snorkellers), scuba diving on numerous reefs, sailing, sailboarding, kayaking, ocean, rock & beach fishing, boating (4 boat ramps in region). The beach is literally across the grass in front of the deck! A tennis court is available locally - $6 per hour - just ask at the First National Real Estate office on Boorawine Terrace (they handle bookings) 200m down the road from the house. Golf is available at Worrigee (near Nowra) where a new golf course and club has been built.
Dolphin & whale cruises leave from Huskisson. They are a lot of fun. A pod of dolphins live in Jervis Bay and are regular visitor to callala Bay and Beach.

For great fun for all hire surf skis from Huskisson and arrange to meet the guy with them at the beach at Myola - a ten minute drive away!
There are numerous bush & beach walks, local and a drive away - Booderee National park and Green Patch being just a couple. Callala Beach - the next little village to Callala Bay has a stunning long beach that runs all the way to Myola - well worth a visit and swim.
The Callala area has a huge variety of wild life (marine & bush)with wonderful bird watching opportunities everywhere around this area. Kangaroos are regular visitors on the school oval and in the bush areas around Callala Bay. Dolphin and whales can be easily seen from beaches and headlands.
There are anumber of local wineries. Coollangatta winery is a 40 minute drive away and holds jazz concerts on weekends. Jaspers Brush between Berry and Nowra is a winery - also a fine restaurant for evening meals
INDOOR ACTIVITIES:
The delightful township of Berry is 35 minutes drive away through the beautiful Shoalhaven River flats - take the Terara Rd for a lovely scenic country drive. There is great shopping there with interesting high quality arts and crafts, clothing and jewellery. You have a good choice of cafes and pubs for lunch too.
Art lovers can visit Bundanon, the home of the famous painter, Arthur Boyd, now left to the state and wonderful to visit. Riverdale another previous Boyd residence is also well worth a visit - a beautiful spot for a picnic on the banks of the Shoalhaven. The Shoalhaven Gallery in Nowra has some fascinating displays. Meroogal, a small but fascinating old historic home in Nowra, just 20 minutes from Callala Bay, is also well worth a visit for those interested in the early history of the area.
Husskison, just south of Callala Beach, has its famous "Husskie" pub with one of the best views with a decent counter lunch in Australia. Visit an Emu farm on the way in from Callala, or see a movie in the quaint cinema - very country and fun.
PLACES TO EAT ROUND CALLALA:
Callala Bay : Bayside Shopping Village ( Emmett St) with a well-stocked IGA supermarket, bottle shop, café/restaurant, chicken/fish take-a-way shop, pharmacy, excellent hardware and all round fishing shop, butchers and video hire.
*Bistro on the way to Callala at Shoalhaven Ex-Servo's Sports Club, with a new 18 hole golf course.
*The Old Bakehouse at Pyree is excellent for a fine dining experience.
Fabulous food there! Make the booking first
*Greenwell Point is a small fishing village - try the fresh oysters from the coop on the right hand side of the road as you come into town - they are EXCELLENT!! Fish & chips with the pelicans at the reserve at the point is also a tourist tradition.
*Currarong - has the beautiful Abrahams Bosom beach - try Zacs seafood, famous for fish & chips, and there is also a petrol station/internet cafe/post office.
*Culbarra Beach is a great surf beach - seafood, pizza shop & chinese restaurant & petrol & shopping centre..
*Callala Bay & Callala Beach have a Country Club on the road in to Callala Beach - a good place to have a decent Chinese meal & quench the thirst buds. The IGA at the Callala Bay shopping centre has a terrific range of groceries, deli and general items and you can provision yourself well there for some great home-cooked feasts. There are a couple of cute cafes too
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
We have a minimum stay of 2 consecutive nights. Upon confirmation of your booking, we will contact you and finalise the booking and give you further details. We also require a $500.00 security bond which is refunded upon satisfactory inspection of the property after your departure. (Note that this $500.00 is not the limit of your liability and of course you will be responsible for the cost of damage in excess of this).
When you come to Bay Cottage the house and grounds will be sparkling, ready for your holiday. Please leave the house and grounds as you found them - we are happy to provide extra resources if you need them. Barbeque cleaning is not included as part of the regular house clean and difficult to do if our cleaner is busy, so we have a BBQ cleaning surcharge of $65 if we have to specially arrange this after your stay. This is deducted from the bond.
