About Moreton Island and getting there

Please note that pets cannot be brought to Moreton Island.

As the Island is all sand and the tracks are all sand, the only vehicles that operate on the Island are 4WD.

If you choose to book a property and you would be bringing a 4WD vehicle to the Island you will be required to notify us of the barge details so that the property can be opened for your arrival.
The MiCat vehicle and passenger Ferry departs from Howard Smith Drive at Lytton at the Port of Brisbane and travels to the Tangalooma Wrecks.
Early bookings are essential as the MiCat is the only vehicle Ferry operating between Brisbane and Moreton Island.
If you would not be bringing a 4WD vehicle to the Island, a 4WD Taxi pick up from the MiCat Ferry Landing point can be booked in advance to bring up to ten guests and their luggage to Cowan Cowan.

Beautiful, natural Moreton Island, just over an hour by luxury vehicle and passenger ferry "Micat" from Port of Brisbane is just waiting for you to discover and enjoy its special places. Just to name a few, North Point, Honeymoon Bay, Cape Moreton, Blue Lagoon, The Desert where you can surf the Sandhills on a sliding Board, Mount Tempest the highest Coastal Sand Dune in the World. See Cowan Cowan, the township that sprang from Fort Cowan established in the War days to protect Brisbane from enemy fire, Bulwer at the northern end of the Island which has a general store and fuel, gas and ice supplies.
