Description
This is a 100 year old plus, two storey, historic homestead, located right at the beginning of the Cape Brett walking track, rated one of the best 100 in the world.
All you need to do is walk out the front door and onto the track!
The Lodge is by far the best location available in Rawhiti if you want close proximity to Oke Bay (Kiri Te Kanawa's favourite beach! She lives not far away) and the walking track.
It is in the process of being restored, so if you don't mind some evidence of this around the place, you'll be fine.
In spite of this, it's very livable, with a shower, mains pressure hot and cold water, chemical toilet, a long drop (for those who prefer it), stove, microwave, two fridges, kitchen, phone, wireless broadband, boat ramp down the road, auto washing machine etc.
It's clean.
Almost the entire inside of the building is kauri.
It's best described as a large classic kiwi bach, ideal for kids and large families who don't want 5 star and who want to relax and not have to worry about damaging anything.
In total, there are beds for 11 people at present.
There are air beds galore for extra people.
Upstairs there is a double bed in one room, two singles in another, a single in another, and a set of bunks in another. The bunks upstairs are king size singles.
Downstairs, the couch in lounge converts into a double bed.
Also downstairs the room allocated as a bedroom has a set of bunks in it - so in total beds for 11 people.
There is room on the lawn to put up tents for extra people. We can supply the tents for free.
The SPECIAL feature of this property is that there is a beach on both sides, so you'll get breathtaking views. Oke Bay is world class with incredible diving, safe swimming and fishing.
Another special feature is the long drop which has common smells but world class views (seriously, we reckon the views from the long drop are million dollar plus and they really help make your visit there enjoyable beyond normal).
You'll never be short of things to do!
Dolphins frequently visit this bay, so if you strike it lucky, you'll be swimming amongst them! Please watch this video to see what I mean:
If you have a boat, you'll be able to moor it right in front of the Lodge in full view of the deck.
There is off street parking for cars.
You'll also have no neighbours as we own the land on both sides i.e. the house sits in a sun trap pocket of native bush.
Elliot Bay, a renown surfing beach, is only 10 minutes away by car.
The Lodge is 1 hour from Whangarei and 3 hours from Auckland, 35 minutes from Russell.
Being on tank water, we'd ask you to be careful with showers if water levels are low.
P.S don't forget to bring insect repellant :)
