Set next to Mudgee's only 5 star organic vineyard, Thistle Hill Vineyard, Varykino has a new fully self contained, all facilities guest cottage (built by Ian Birchall Constructions, Australian Builder of the year 2004) with 3 bedrooms, 2 queen and 1 with king size single beds. The cottage is next to the water lily dam with a wide, shaded veranda facing the Monet bridge over the dam. Fat, greedy geese and hundreds of giant goldfish cruise among the dam's water lilies.
There is also the apartment adjoining the main house, looking down over the water lily dam. The apartment is also fully self contained and has 3 bedrooms set out similarly to the cottage. Both have en suites to the main bedrooms with 3-way bathrooms servicing the other 2 bedrooms in each venue. Wide screen tv, dvd and surround-sound are in each setting with superb soft leather furnishings to sink into and relax. Extensive free dvd library available for couch potatoes. Reverse cycle air conditioning and fans. Pool, cabana, barbecues are available together with continental breakfast supplied in the respective kitchens. Satellite broadband connection too if you cant leave your laptop at home!

Locality

Just 10 kilimetres from Mudgee town on the Hargreaves Road to Hill End, Varykino is set in the beautiful Erudgere Valley nexty to Thistle Hill Vineyard and surrounded by other vineyards (Burnbrae, Erudgere, Blacklea and Iona) and rolling cattle plains stretching off into the distance with surrounding hills.

Property

Varykino's gardens have featured in the ABC Open Garden Scheme and our previous property in town won Mudgee's best cottage and town garden prizes. We are life members of the Animal Welfare League and have 5 German Spitz (large Pomeranian) dogs, 5 very spoilt long haired cats, doves, geese, goldfish, cattle and a large variety of native parrots and birds including magpies,chuffs, [Heckle & Jeckle gang] King parrots, butcher birds and a family of very beautiful tawny frogmouth owls who have set up home with us. Occasionally kangaroos visit and our good friend "Bubby" the emu hangs out with the cattle sometimes when he hasn't anything else to do and wants someone to talk to.
