Description

Berkana Cottage, epitomises the romance of the mountains, with soaring ceilings, cosy atmosphere and a roaring log fire. Located in a quiet country lane 1km from Blackheath village and next door to great bushwalks. We are also wheelchair accessible.

Surrounded by a lovely Blue Mountains garden of Azaleas, Rhododendrons (Blackheath is the Rhododendron capital of Australia), Banksia, Callistemons (aka Bottle Brush) and Waratahs, New South Wales floral emblem, plus a host of other wonderful European and native flora.

The cottage has lots of light and a feeling of open space, which is crowned by a rich wood cathedral ceiling with high quality timber flooring throughout roaring log fire (wood provided). The atmosphere is uniquely Blue Mountains with a modern, comfortable and cosy feel about it.

There are neighbours nearby but not on top of you. So the feel is one of not being hemmed in, yet close enough to people if isolation is not your thing. Wake to the freshest of fresh air tinged with a gentle aroma from the giant pine and gums trees that pervade the area. And listen to the native birds singing their dawn chorus.

The 130 sq m cottages universal design means it is comfortable for all and is truly access friendly. Easy entry is via the garage while a stroll through the azalea garden will bring you up the steps to the front door, or there is a ramp from the native garden to the deck and entry via French doors.

Guest Reviews

  • "we loved the cottage; our only complaint is that if we went with friends the second queen room doesn't have any hanging space for clothes; we felt that the second queen bed would be better where the twin beds are and also it's closer to the bathroom."
    Helen, July 2008
