The Town

Currarong is the south coasts best kept secret ! Currarong is a 2.5 hour drive from Sydney or 3 hours from Canberra. Once reaching Norwa, head southeast towards the coast. The quiet fishing village of some 250 local residents offers recreational activities including bushwalking, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba-diving, kayaking and surfing. Or for those that enjoy just relaxing there are some 14 majestic beaches surrounding the town for your exploration.
Whales frequent the South Coast between Set. & Nov. and at time can be viewed from upstairs viewing deck. Dolphins appear all year round.

Currarong Beach & Creek,is very safe for children and is protected from those strong Southerly winds. Another option is to take a 10 min stroll to Abrahams Bosom beach where you are surrounded by bushland. Between these 2 beaches is a crystal clear rock pool , where the locals enjoy a few laps or pass the afternoon with the snorkels, taking in the wonderful marine life nature has to offer.

For those that prefer a little more privacy- head out on a 5 min drive through the National Park to Honeymoon Bay and Cabbage Tree Beach, to name a few more pristine beaches to relax.

Currarong is located on the Beecroft Peninsula (north head of Jervis Bay). The Peninsula wthin its boundaries offers some of the most spectacular panoramic views of rugged cliffs, white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters of Jervis Bay within the Jervis Bay Marine Park. Bushwalk or Drive to the Point Perpendicular Light House or take the Wrek Walk to see the remains of the SS Merimbula which was wrecked at Beecroft Head in 1928 or visit the Arts and Crafts Hall situated at the Old Fire Station.

DINING OUT AND LOCAL AMMENITIES

You will not be disappointed with the wonderful facilities Currarong has to offer for such a small town. Zac\'s Place offers fresh Seafood & Pasta, dine in or take away and fresh straight from sea by our own local fishermen. The Merimbula Bistro at the local Currarong Bowling Club serves a Chinese Cuisine and of course Australian dishes. Speaking of the Bowling Club, make sure you buy a few tickets for the Meat Raffle of a Saturday afternoon which makes for a substantial BBQ dinner for the rest of the week.

The General Store stocks all of your holiday needs from groceries, liquor, DVD hire to take-away meals. There is also a Newsagent/ Post Office. An IGA Supermarket is located 10 minutes away at Callalla Bay and for bigger runs Nowra is 20 minutes away.

There is plenty to do to keep the whole family happy and rest assured, you will be eager to book your return visit!
