History

Ranelagh was built in 1875 for Joshua Gill who wished to accommodate his large family of 10 children. Ranelagh was built in a stately manner, which is unrivalled in Dubbo, even by today's standards, to reflect Gills status as a prosperous local merchant. Gill owned the first general store in Dubbo, The Overland Store.

Conveniently located 2 kms from cbd and Dubbos main tourist attractions including Western Plains Zoo, The Old Dubbo Jail, Dubbos 27 hole championship golf course and lots more.

  • "A big thank you to Peter who was our host & also the owner of Ranelagh Bed & Breakfast. My boyfriend & I including our dog stayed after much searching the country areas of New South Wales for Gay friendly accommodation. Peter made us extremely welcome & also gave us including other guests plenty of space. The warmth of the people of Dubbo was also what we expected even though they would not have known our personal circumstances. Another mention for two establishments in Dubbo SSS BBQ Barns & Rose Gardens Thai Restaurant these two eateries were outstanding in the quality standard & service something our city friends need to see to believe. Glenn, Barnabas & Loopy the dog. "

  • "If you are looking for a home away from home we would thoroughly recommend Ranelagh Bed & Breakfast. We have stayed here twice now and are very impressed with the hospitality and the surrounds. Even our four legged "kids" were treated as well as we were. Keep up the good work Peter!!!"

  • "This place is absolutely AMAZING! Owner extremely friendly, he upgraded us to an incredibly beautiful room with 4 poster bed - we felt like royalty! Our dog was even allowed inside. This is 100% recommended and one of the best places I've stayed! Thank you so much. Kara & David"

  • "My husband Alan and I enjoyed a great stay in Dubbo with our miniature Schnauzer Lisl................Ranelagh circa 1865 is filled with old world charm but modern day comforts. Equipped with a full size billard table, piano, two lovely lounge areas with TV and sound systems, cosy fireplaces, so many bedrooms for family and friends, along with a modern kitchen, Ranelagh made our stay in Dubbo complete. So good to find a historical property that has been so lovingly cared for and equipped with mod cons that we all expect in 5 star hotels. Having a swimming pool, tennis court and BBQ facilities in the rear garden makes Ranelagh so attractive for active guests. Thank you for the chance of experiencing such a wonderful weekend of old world charm and beauty, Marie Ficarra MLC NSW Parliament "
