Description

The drive from Hobart only takes about 75 minutes, but it can take much more if you like to have a look at the lovely little towns and scenery on the way. Once you get there you will be amazed at how pristine the location and the beach is. The rolling waves do crash a bit at times, but that will only serve to relax you and send you to noddy land. Light the fire, open a good wine, drag over a couple of old easy chairs and kick back. There is a selection of music to wack on the CD player. If thats not your style, try fishing off the beach out the front. A good surf rod will soon have a couple of pretty good sized flathead in the bag. What about snow walking and sight seeing. What about 4 wheel driving. How about reading, playing your guitar, writing poetry or even a novel. If you have kids, you wont see them till they get hungry. You can't get them off the beach. Deep blue water(extremely clean) and a beautiful white sandy beach to lay or walk on. Allow plenty of days to chill out.

This area has become known as "Far South Tasmania" and is quite unique. There are lots of things to see and do, if you can drag yourself away from the beach. It is worth taking a look at

Guest Reviews

  • "It has taken me 40 years to finally find a place that is really unqiue. Peace and quiet and open air, wait for us somewhere. It's all there. Fresh seafood off the rocks and on the end of the line, open fire, cosy rooms, clean beds, great prices, no pretence, pounding waves all night long, great walks, good little pub, you name it. Our kids can't wait to get back again. The weather was the same as Melbourne, and that's suits us just fine, you can keep your humidity, give me the beach in Tassie any day."

  • "Beautiful and relaxing. We saw dolphins jumping in the bay from the front windows, and caught flathead off the beach right in front of the house. The estuary nearby was a great paddling spot for our baby. "

  • "Loved the joint, Costello had to look after the Hicks business while I was fishing and eating huge oysters off the rocks. I'm going back when I get kicked out of office, Kevin Rudd might give me a diplomatic job in Tassie."

  • "Great spot, no one could find me. Costello had to look after the Hicks affair while I was fishing and drinking. No children overboard down there, no green house gas emissions, no trade problems, just peace, glorious peace. Even had a good steak at the pub. Never seen oysters so big ,right off the rocks, free. When I retire, thats where I am headed, unless Kevin Rudd gives me a diplomatic posting somewhere nice."
