The Captain’s House is a fine example of Balmain’s harbour side housing of bygone days.
Located in a picturesque but quiet street, the Captain’s House has been well preserved and cared for. It’s a private residence close to dozens of restaurants, shops and the market place in Balmain where you will find a very traditional village atmosphere.
Accommodation.
A lounge with TV DVD.
The dining area has great upper Harbour views including Cockatoo Island.
A traditional dine-in kitchen, (just like a picture postcard) but with all amenities.
Laundry with washer and drier.
There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and a day bed; the other with a double bed.
One modern bathroom with a shower over the bath and an extra toilet in the garden area.
This is a no smoking house.
There is the advantage of a private garden with a BBQ: Great for alfresco dining and watching the fireworks.
Unwired Broadband internet connection available if required.(optional extra)
A parking permit is in the house. You may put this in your car to park on the streets in the area. If you use the card please return it to the house at the end of your stay.
The delights of the Balmain peninsular and the Dawn Fraser sea pool are only minutes away.
It is not well known but there is a sea pool in Balmain. It is in Elkington Park overlooking the western waters of Sydney Harbour. It is named after Olympic champion Dawn Fraser who grew up nearby and trained there. There is also a kiosk where you can have your morning coffee and snack etc.
Restaurants and shopping in Darling St: A wonderful selection of coffee shops with mouth-watering cakes snacks or meals
Markets in Darling St are held on the weekend.
Easy access to central Sydney: Five minutes walk to the bus stop; the bus takes only 12 minutes to the Queen Victoria Building in the CBD' or walk to the ferry terminal and enjoy a 10 or 15 minutes ferry ride to Circular Quay, the gateway to the City of Sydney.
A bond of $1500 is required; which is returned on a satisfactory inspection at the end of your tenancy. A departure clean of $200 is also mandatory.
