We rented Chinzea for a week in early August 2008. My wife and myself, our daughter, son-in-law, baby granddaughter and our mini-foxy. While we were there, except for inadequate heating and having a pair of running shoes sprayed by the owner’s cat, we enjoyed our stay. The night before our departure we asked the owner if she would inspect the house as we were leaving early next morning. She declined our request. After our return we were informed by the owner of a damaged blind in the spare room. Realizing we had no option, we agreed to pay even though we did not touch the blind. After 6 weeks of follow-up phone calls to the owner, we finally received half of our $600 bond. We did not receive a copy of repair receipt as requested. The $300 kept was her assessment of the repair plus transportation and time costs to her. We have no options to retrieve any of the remainder because the bond was not kept by an independent agent but was deposited directly into the owner’s account. There was no contract signed or specific description of what would be covered by the bond. I would be very careful with dealing with this property. Our experience has been soured by having to deal with a situation involving questionable business practices.I feel that we should invoice the owner for work I did on her email account at no expense plus the cost of new running shoes. Without the owner providing the receipt for repair work, how can we know that there actually was a damaged blind? We are now doubtful.

Dear Reader,The accomodation is beautiful and what a location! Views of the surrounding countryside and a very privacy aware, but always helpful manager. Had a great stay and look forward to staying there again.

Beautiful, lovely and peaceful setting, with great view of countryside to the beach. 10 Minute drive to Suffolk Park beach. Very nice house, perfectly set up, lovely deck. Property description a bit misleading as is actually a 'dual occupancy' - not freestanding house. Owner's residence adjoins.. so felt a bit like she was 'watching us'. Many conditions imposed on arrival (ie - keep quiet due to neighbours (even though we were not noisy), keep dogs on verandah / in house & they were not free to run around on their own, as not fenced). Extra fee for using BBQ was imposed without any notice prior - maybe we wouldn't have used it if we knew if a fee was charged. Would have been better if owner had communicated these things PRIOR to us paying! Overall though, a relaxing country stay.
