Circa 1800's Tasmanian farmhouse beautifully restored and its additions are just 10 minutes drive to Mt Field National Park with the South West Wilderness area nearby. Hamlet Downs offers 4 Star serviced apartments or self contained accommodation and fabulous meals.

The property features private units with their own entrances, bathroom facilities, dining/lounge areas and patios. The Hamlet Unit and King suite have kitchens.

If you are traveling between Hobart and Strahan or visa versa, Hamlet Downs is the perfect stopover to refresh you and your family or friends before proceeding.

Relax, enjoy a great meal using our own produce as it becomes available, have a walk here or at Russell Falls in the Mount Field National Park, or have a relaxing drink at the cafe next to the Tyenna River. Want some adventure, take a trip to the fabulous lookout on top of the Eagles' Eyrie as part of the Maydena Adventure Hub activities (subject to availability) or have a go on the Jet Boat on the Derwent River.

The property features lovely gardens and a walking track along our creek and around our ponds designed to view the local wildlife.

We offer room only, Bed and Breakfast (light or cooked breakfast) and for the discerning traveler, the complete dinner, bed and breakfast package. You may order dinner if desired on the night from our extensive menu ranging from light meals to 3 courses.

For something completely different, try our Greek dishes or better still have a Greek Feast with 3 courses of delicious authentic Mediterranean cuisine. Minimum of 2 persons and 24 hours notice required to prepare these special dishes.

For guests wanting Self Contained we can provide full breakfast provisions if required. All linen provided.

There are no internal shared facilities and each group enjoys their own private suite with separate lounge and dining areas for each suite.

We are the perfect place to use as a base to explore our amazing Tyenna region and southern Tasmania. Only 10 minutes from Mt Field National Park which offers an extremely diverse range of attractions, like the world famous Russell Falls, Lake Dobson and the Tarn shelf. Also close by is the South West World Heritage area featuring Lake Pedder. The Styx valley is also near by and is the home of the worlds tallest hardwood trees the Australian eucalyptus. Many other attractions are in the Tyenna region of Southern Tasmania.

We are just 3 minutes from Southern Tasmania's premier trout fishing location the Tyenna river renowned for the size and quality of the fish caught. Just 20 minutes from us is excellent lake fishing at Lake Meadowbank the last dam on the Derwent river. We are also on the route to Lake Pedder, another great fishing spot.

For travellers interested in our local history we are close to the towns of Hamilton, New Norfolk and Bothwell with there many historic buildings. New Norfolk is largest town in the Derwent Valley commonly known as Southern Tasmania's Country Capital. We are only 1 hour drive from Hobart Tasmania's capital. Here you can take a walk around historic Battery Point, the Hobart waterfront area with its many fine restaurants, the Maritime Museum, Cascade Brewery, Botanical Gardens, Cadbury's Chocolate Factory,take a drive to the summit of Mt Wellington for spectacular views and on Saturday mornings take in Salamanca markets which Hobart is renowned for.

Cancellations

Cancellations within 7 days of the stay will incur the full tariff for 1 day. Cancellations or clients not arriving on the day of the stay/s will incur the full tariff for up to 7 days stay. Any refunds are net of costs incurred by provider.
