The moment we walked through the front Balinese style gates we just knew that this was going to be a very special property and we weren't disappointed. The gardens were amazing to say the least, we felt like we were back in Bali without having to sit on a plane for hours. Palms, ferns, ginger plants as well as Frangipanis just to mention a few of the wonderful plants that the owner has planted to give the feel of an exotic place. There is a small courtyard on the right side of the house with bamboo fencing, this area is a great spot to let your dogs wander around as they can't get into the front yard with the ponds. Also in this area there is an outside hot and cold water shower for when you want to shower off any sand after a swim at the beach. The beach itself is only meters away from the house. You have your own private pathway through what I would call a small sort of rainforest to get there. There is this lovely Bali hut in the one corner of the backyard which is great to sit in and have a wine or beer after a day on the beach. To add to this tropical feel, there are tiny fairy lights which add just the right amount of light as they dance in the breeze.
The inside of the house is truly breathtaking. It has a wonderful feel to it. You just know that many a good times have been had in this house. The style of the inside of this house is Bali / India Hicks with touches of Key West. The walls are painted white and with polished floor boards, straw hats and impeccable art work which graces the walls. This reminds me of India's house in the Bahamas. There is a Balinese daybed in the open plan living area also a Pianola. Upstairs there is a large deck facing the back yard and a small balcony to the front of the house. Two large bedrooms with comfortable beds. Another living area also upstairs. There are two bathrooms as well as the outside shower. I just love this property and I only found one problem and that is our stay wasn't long enough. I know that I will make this one of my favourite places to go and stay and bring our dogs. I know that if you consider this property you won't be disappointed . It's "Heaven on Earth!"

Best part was that we could take the dog on our family beach holiday.Great location - right on the beach and a short walk to the main shopping strip. Well proportioned accommodation - adults can get away from the kids quite easily! We will definitely book again.

The 'big house', a lovely beach house, the smell of salt, sea air and feel of wooden floors below your feet, the sliding glass doors lead out to the dune behind the beach. A quirky Barbie Doll in a budgie cage greeted me as I walked up the back stairs. Our Black Labrador had a great time running along the north end of Sawtell beach, the part that allows dogs but with all the ponds and fountains in the Balinese gardens at Shellies and wandering goanas and bush turkeys going past the most practible option if you bring a dog is to block the rear ground floor balcony enterance with a bogie board as although the front yard is fenced it is full of ponds so no good to keep a water loving dog there. All in all the place has a great karma and even though it is right on the beach it is at the high $$ end of holiday rentals in Sawtell that are within 'Speedo*' distance of the beach.
*'Speedo Distance' is the distance you can walk from a beach in your swimmers before you have to get changed into clothes as you are so far from surf you look like a pillock walking along a suburban street in a pair of budgie smugglers :)

It was OK
We enjoyed the uniquness of this beach house for such a short stay of 1 night, but it was well equiped and interesting. My children loved the very old bed and the piano. We didn't stay long enough to enjoy the hut out the back or use the decks/bbq, but it was all very inviting and to be able to stay with the beloved family dog was great. We will come back for longer one time hopefully soon and we will make use of the well fitted kitchen, bath etc. Soooooo close to the beach. I loved it. Thank you.

Shellies on the Beach - the Big House was perfect for my husband and I and our 4 small children. It had amble sleeping space and lots of room for the kids to run around and explore outside. The beach was just a short walk down the path from the house and totally secluded so we felt like we had our own private beach. The owners and property manager were just super to work with and made our stay really enjoyable. I would highly recommend Shellies on the Beach.

Fell in love with he house right from the moment we opened the gate and stepping stones in the pond led up to the front door!!! The house was filled with unique art and furniture and the balinese daybed was the highlight. It had all facilities we needed to share a wonderful night with our friends. This house is a gem and we will be returning for a longer stay next time.

Shellies on the Beach is located amongst the trees right beside beautiful Sawtell beach. Shops and cafes are only a 5-10 minute walk away. The house is large and definitely suited to beach holiday. We loved being able to take our pet on holiday with us.

We had a wonderful time in the big house. Its such a lovely house, filled with inspiring art work within a peaceful, bird filled garden. We loved being able to hear the waves, and walk over the dunes to the beach. The beds were really comfy too.
