Mt Barney Lodge is a family run business, with two generations of the Larkin family living onsite and being actively involved in hosting our guests.

Our 30 acre property has full creek frontage and is next to the World Heritage listed Mt Barney National Park. Its sense of rural charm and remotenesss is completed by having the Mt Gilles State Forest and neighbouring grazing country adjacent to us.

Mt Barney Lodge offers four levels of accommodation, all with uninterrupted views from verandahs facing the awesome massif of Mt Barney.

Mt Barney is a wild and rugged geographical feature, and is Queenslands fourth highest peak (1359m).

There are two Queenslander homesteads onsite appointed with colonial furniture, potbelly stoves, extensive verandas and memorable artwork. Not just a guest room, the whole house is yours for a memorable getaway holiday

Foresters Hut and Henrys Hut are our rustic retreats fulfilling your every need of a simple country haven.

There are 2 deluxe Camper Trailers on site - already set up for you to settle in, unwind and relax as you take in the beauty of the natural surrounds.

Mt Barney Lodge is unique as we can accommodate up to 30 people across the 4 buildings. We have successfully hosted group bookings, weddings and conferences, and we have a multi-purpose function room available. Family groups with children are warmly welcome.

Other unique services we offer are catered meals to your building of choice, and adventure activities such as rockclimbing, abseiling led hikes, and navigation training to our onsite guests.

Homestead Accommodation

The Homesteads are exclusively yours during your stay.

Booloamoola has a U-shaped veranda and spectacular views of Mt Barney and Mt Maroon. Fully self-contained kitchen with dining room, potbelly stove, bathroom and formal lounge. There is a large outdoor paved area which is protected by a pergola, perfect for an outdoor BBQ. Inside enjoy the ambience of colonial furniture and original paintings. There are 3 Bedrooms consisting of 1 double bed, and 2 twin share rooms. 4-6 persons can book this homestead.


Moringararah is the original farmhouse built in true Queenslander style circa 1870. It has an L- shaped veranda with spectacular views of Mt Barney and Mt Maroon. The furnishings are a lifetime collection of colonial furniture and original paintings, and has real country charm and nostalgia. There is a large country kitchen which is fully self-contained, and a large formal dining room with a comfortable lounge area where you can enjoy the ambience of the potbelly stove. There are 7 bedrooms in total (up and downstairs) consisting of 3 double bed rooms and 4 twin share rooms. 4-15 persons can book this homestead.

All beds have doonas and pillows. Linen is BYO or hire $15 per person (sheets,towels). Children 2 years and above are charged at per person price. Under 2 years are free. Cot available on request. Meals can be booked in advance.

Cabin and Deluxe Camper Trailers

The cabins feature polished wood floors and verandas that face Mt Barney. Fully self-contained kitchen included. There is an outdoor covered area with a picnic table and gas BBQ.

Henrys Hut contains 2 bedrooms consisting of 1 double bed room and 1 bunk rooms with 2 single bunks. 2-6 persons can book this cabin.

Foresters Hut contains 3 bedrooms consisting of 1 double bed room and 2 bunk rooms with 2 single bunks. 2-10 persons can book this cabin.

Double bed has doona and pillows. Bunks require BYO sleeping bags/blankets. Shared bathroom and toilet facilities in a modern and clean adjacent amenities block. Linen is BYO or hire $15 per person (sheets,towels). Children 2 years and above are charged at per person price. Under 2 years are free. Cot available on request. Meals can be booked in advance.

Our 2 Deluxe Camper Trailers are suitable for a family of 4 and are already set up for you to arrive, relax and kick back. Each camper trailer has 1 queen bed (raised level) and 2 single beds in the tent. The annex contains a sink, stove, tables and chairs and all basic cooking utensils.

Linen can be organised for $15/person.
