Description

Bronte Manor is a grand, yet rustic, three-bedroom mudbrick dwelling elevated amidst 35ha of trees and hills 6km north of Clare.

Cosy, yet spacious, the layout is perfect for one couple, while two ensuite bathrooms provide privacy for larger groups.

When a third queen-sized bed with ensuite is required for special occasion gatherings of families or friends Heathcliff Guest Cottage can be requisitioned at little extra. Separated from the main house by a lovely stone wall and meandering brick path, the charming, rustic brick-floored cottage is warmed by a pot belly stove and also enjoys uninterrupted views over rolling hills and trees.

Peace and transquility are the hallmarks of Bronte Manor.

Relax in the claw-footed bath and enjoy stunning views through large floor-to-ceiling windows. The long, baronial-sized living room with open fireplace separates each queen-sized suite.

Step out through French doors onto the slate terrace from every room in the house (except the third twin bedroom) and watch the sun go down behind a vista of stunning valley views with the racecourse in the far distance.

Self contained (non hosted) accommodation for a single party of up to eight

Enjoy a bottle of complimentary local Clare Valley Red in front of a blazing fire or, in summer, a chilled White on the terrace overlooking the sweeping valley.

Cook up your complimentary eggs and bacon, or make dinner, in the newly renovated and well-equipped kitchen while you listen to the kookaburras and enjoy the rural view which is undisturbed by any other dwelling.

If you've brought any four-legged friends, you'll know your pampered pet is secure in a fenced-off area (with shelter) near the house as you head off to enjoy the nearby wineries and restaurants.

The ideal place for entertaining, or simply relaxing

Depending on the weather, you can use the gas BBQ on the terrace and enjoy the feeling of being lord of all you survey from such an elevated position, or cook up your sausages on the wood-fired BBQ pit on the eastern side of the house while you enjoy undisturbed views of the garden bordered by natural bushland. A weber can also be requested if you wish to cook a roast one balmy evening.

At the edge of the courtyard, hundred-year-old gums pepper the slope which meets a wide grassy sward, bordered by a ribbon of trees, with the dam in the distance. There is not another building or road to distract the eye.

Birdlife is abundant, and kangaroos are often sighted.

Guest Reviews

  • "This is a great place to relax, go for a walk, read a book or visit nearby wineries. Ted is a very charming host. The home is very clean and well stocked. South Australia was very dry during our visit so the gardens could do with a lift but understandable with water restrictions etc. Love it!"
