Looking for a holiday destination? You may have just found it! Driftwood is a charming lakeside cottage nestling amongst the gum trees and privy to a view that will take your breath away. Lake Conjola, on the South Coast of NSW is a pristine expanse of sparkling clear water and arguably one of Australias best kept holiday secrets. Very tastefully decorated and recently renovated, right down to a fully equipped picnic basket, feather doonas and complimentary bottle of wine. Just bring food and beverages, everything you need is there, even the candles, mohair throws and as one guest said...."in fact everything you need to throw a fabulous dinner party."
We could go on, but let's leave that to Simon St John, author of the prestigious travel book, Beautiful Accommodation':
As a result of our visit I am delighted to welcome you to the next edition of Beautiful Accommodation. I was so impressed with Driftwood -- the attention to detail in the interiors is superb and the setting is quite magical. Driftwood has a soul and I would be proud to represent you for the two years of the next edition. I know that as a result of the new edition many special guests will enjoy the unique experience of staying at Driftwood.

We left this morning after a fantastic stay -- your place is so nicely fitted out, it was a pleasure to wake up each morning... we would have had little trouble never leaving the house if the weather had dictated it. A little palace by the water!

"What a perfect place to relax, enjoy a glass of wine on the deck and marvel at the visiting echidna on the lawn. Thank you Virginia, for providing a holiday house with such a beautiful feel; from the huge, light-filled bedroom to the kitchen filled with everything you could possibly need to cook up a storm, it really is a little slice of Conjola heaven. We are counting the months until we can come back again.....and the dogs are glaring at us for dragging them away and bringing them back home."
"The moment we entered we were struck by the beautiful decor, and the fantastic view looking directly over the lake. The ambiance of both the house and local area creates an environment of relaxation -- we explored the local town and spent time at the beach, only a few minutes away. We hope to return, thank you."

I first came across Driftwood in a divine moment of serendipity when the nearby hotel I'd stayed in previously turned out to be full. After a hectic few months in London I was looking for a bolt hole far away from the pressures of life, close enough to nature to enjoy its serenity but not so close that it crawls all over you. Driftwood is a two-bedroom holiday cottage on the shores of Lake Conjola, on the south coast of New South Wales. It's a fair old drive from Sydney, but there wasn't a shred of doubt in my mind we'd taken the right decision to spend a few days chilling here. We spent hours on end mesmerised by the stillness of the place, with the only sounds coming from fish jumping out of the lake and wild parroquets. Provided you've bought your own food, the place has everything you could possibly need - including a few thoughtfully provided last minute kitchen ingredients that you've likely forgotten. The hosts are even considerate enough to leave a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge awaiting your arrival. The surrounding area boasts some beautiful parkland and some stunning beaches (mind the rip tide and sharks) just a 10 minute drive away. The nearest big town, Ulladulla, lives up to the second part of its name, but heck if we'd wanted city lights we would've opted for Sydney or Melbourne. This is a real find and somewhere we'll be happy to return to.
