Comfortable, cozy and great location!
The apartment is close to much of ancient Rome, which is where we wanted to be! Paola took time to walk us through the apartment and made herself available if we needed anything. It was a great stay!

A Charming Modest Apartment in the Heart of Rome
We were looking for an affordable yet comfortable place to stay in Rome for a month and could not have done better than this apartment of Paola's. The king bed was very comfortable and the combination kitchenette and sitting area very nice. Everything in the area was convenient; grocers, a fruiteria, gelateria, many cafes and bars, all within a short walk. (Explore; many are not obvious.) The apartment is 1/2 block from a piazza where the youth gather at night; nothing raucous, just lively, although the double glazed windows were appreciated for keeping the street noise out. We never turned on the television although one is available. A combination heating/AC unit kept the apartment comfortable. And there is WiFi although this was occasionally weak (too many users?) Paola, the owner, was helpful and friendly and could answer any question and make any recommendation needed. If you have good legs you and probably walk to any major site. If not the Metro is right there. That can get packed but sometimes beat the alternative of walking up the hills. We got Metro passes good for a calendar month which made that a simpler and more obvious choice. In short we had a delightful time staying in Monti on Via dei Serpenti.

Ideal location, wonderful apartment and amenities!
This apartment was a DREAM COME TRUE!! Its location in the historic Monti district provides a central and authentic place to live. It is within easy walking distance of many monuments and attractions throughout Rome, as well as all public transit (subway, train, bus, tram). The apartment is spacious, attractive, and gets amazing light from the tall windows, which are new and soundproof!!! As a result, the apartment is itself tranquil and comfortable. You are also near many fun cafes and restaurants in Monti, which is a neighborhood that I cannot praise enough. Monti has something for everyone, and for a central neighborhood it is very livable and safe; you're a few minutes' walk from three great grocery stores. You even have a beautiful view of the Colosseum when you look out the windows! All of the amenities in the apartment were convenient and up to date. Air conditioning/heating worked well. The kitchen space, bathroom, and washing machine were all highly functional and nicely kept. Special note: The owner of the property is incredibly nice and understanding, and she is extremely knowledgable about Rome among many other areas. Her English is impeccable, and she is an honest and genuine person who has experience with guests from many parts of the world. She is exceptionally responsive and takes great care of the property. She also often anticipates your needs before you might think to ask. I felt very happy in Rome because of the pleasant apartment, convenient location, and the owner's attentiveness to my needs. The apartment was kept immaculately clean when I arrived. I would recommend this property without hesitation to anyone.

Great Apartment in a Great Location
I stayed in Paola's 1 br apartment with my wife and two young children over a week and a half in the summertime. The apartment was clean and well stocked, in particular with all of the kitchen supplies you might need to make and eat meals. Over the 9 days, we ate breakfast in the unit daily and had no issues preparing several dinners as well. The courtyard was delightful for meals and was well shaded by the time dinner rolled around, which was a welcome respite from the heat. The bed was huge and comfortable, although I must say that the fold-out sofabed was the best I have ever used. I think I actually preferred sleeping on it to the bed. Paola - let me know where you got it, I might want a similar model for my own home! The AC kept the unit comfortable even as the outside temperatures climbed into the mid-30s. The laundry machine was easy to use and super useful with a 5-year-old and 2-year-old. The unit was even stocked with several up-to-date travel books (Rick Steves, I believe) for exploring Rome and Italy. The location was amazing - you can see the colosseum from the front door of the building and walk there in a little over 5 minutes. We walked everywhere we went in Rome and it felt like none of the major attractions (except the Vatican) were more than a 45 minute walk away. There's even a grocery store on Via Cavour just a few minutes away for fridge-stocking. The Pizza place next door was perfect for late night quick-eats and Fata Morgana (our favourite gelato place we could find) was just a few minutes away. I would have no hesitation recommending this place for a couple or a family with a couple of small children. It was a great home base from which to discover Rome!
