Local Attractions

Cape Liptrap coastal park is a mere five minute walk from the front door, and contains a plentiful array of the local wildlife and plantlife, as well as a number of spectacular scenic walks with views across Waratah Bay to Wilsons Promontory.

The beaches of Walkerville North and South are a short drive or 20 minute walk and are renowned for their clear water, safe swimming and excellent fishing - with whiting, salmon, snapper and trevally your main seasonal catches. Sandy Point surf beach is 15 minutes by car.

Local towns include Foster, Fish Creek, Meeniyan, Tarwin Lower and Sandy Point, but most of all you’ll want to visit the magnificent Wilsons Promontory National Park. “The Prom” is just 35 kilometres from Walkerville so you’ll be able to enjoy a good lie-in and proper breakfast before you embark on your day’s bushwalking or beach combing. And dont forget the sheer abundance of dive sites and underwater life that awaits the scuba or snorkel enthusiast (if you dont have a boat, Whisky Bay and Picnic Bay are the easiest beach access dive sites).

Angling is allowed in some areas of the Prom, and some shellfish can also be taken from certain areas. Check with the rangers first.

We know you’ll enjoy your stay at Lorikeet Lodge and look forward to seeing you out on the walking tracks... or at the beach... or in the boat.. or at the Prom!

  • "Lorikeet Lodge was a great place for a Excellent price. The house had everything we needed from all cutlery you can think of to spare blankets and towels. Was a great place to stay while visting the Prom. the local lighthouse was also a good attraction. 2 great verandas and plenty of room in the yard for a game of soccer or cricket. Would recomend to a friend not looking for luxury but just a great quiet relaxing weekend away =]"

  • "We had an excellent stay at Lorikeet Lodge - everything was beautifully set out and clean. There were bookd and DVDs and rugs to snuggle up on the couch; our family had awonderful time and even when it rained for three days had plenty to do! It was a lovely stay."

  • "Absolutely everything was included. The property had a huge yard and the interior was spacious, very comfortable and well-equipped. We couldn't offer any suggestions to improve anything, it was a great place to stay!"

  • "Great value property ? everything included, all mod cons, contemporary linen, crockery and large yard ? perfect just for a quite 2 person (and dog) weekend away or a not so quite 6 friends weekend catch up. The location means you make your own fun, kick back relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The lime kilns are also worth a look."
