Description

Why stay in a boring motel when you can enjoy something unique.

Step back in time and stay in our 1910 First Class Passenger Train Carriage Units.

Featured in TV documentaries, Magazine articles and the winner of 2 Best in State Awards.

A nostalgic, comfortable and relaxing holiday with a difference.

The carriage was rescued from a final journey to the scrap heap and now provides guests with a special experience in accommodation.

RACV 3.5 star rating.

All of our accommodation is dog friendly (dogs are gods on the property) and they can stay in the unit with you. (We ask guests to obey a few small rules for the dogs - please bring doggie bedding and they must keep them off the furniture).

We also have an outside dog kennel and small run plus an external enclosed room for our 4 legged friends in case you would like to visit the nearby national parks.

The train units are air conditioned with a queen bedroom, ensuite and separate living room. There is a double fold out futon in the living room so the units can accommodate up to 4 guests.

Extras include a dvd player with free dvds (sorry no tv reception), bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities and complimentary port.

Wander through our 3 acres of gardens, courtyards, water features and meet the pet alpacas, sheep, peacocks and over 20 varieties of wild birds.

Join in the fun and hand feed the alpacas (Tiramasu and Knickers) after a hearty breakfast.

LUXURY SETTLERS COTTAGE

For that Romantic weekend or an extended holiday the Settlers Cottage is a great way to relax and unwind.

The cottage was the original home on the property (Circa 1900) and has been professionaly renovated to become a truly luxurious cottage.

RACV 4 star rating

Featuring a queen bedroom, ensuite and a large living room with library, games table, antique furniture, cd and record player, tv and dvd player with free dvds, bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities and complimentary port.

Very very well behaved small dogs allowed in the cottage.

  • "The hosts were friendly and had good local knowledge, and the food was very good (a hearty dinner and breakfast the next morning). The cottage was a good size and comfortable and clean. However, there was only one small portable heater and we were very cold. "

  • "What a wonderfully unique place to stay. The Train carriages have been restored and refurbished to reflect both style and comfort. Our Host, Jeff showed us around the property and introduced us to their wonderful 'menagerie'. Because we'd already made other arrangements we didn't take up their offer of dinner, however, breakfast cooked by Jeff was excellent and he was very informative about what aspects of the surrounding area were worth a visit."
    Annie, December 2007

  • "What an absolute find! We were looking for somewhere special to stay for my son's 9th birthday and visit to Grandpa in Port Fairy. Matthew loved sleeping in a real train carriage, and my partner and I enjoyed it just as much! Very comfy accom, even though it rained, hailed and gale force winds blew throughout our entire stay we were cosy and warm. Fed the Llamas and sheep, dined sublimely in the restaurant and full marks to Jeff for his chef abilities. We will definitely re-visit this wonderful place. "
    Tracey, December 2007
