Description

There are 3 large bedrooms (2 with ocean views), a living room with wood heater, fully equipped kitchen with own dining area, sunny porch/reading room and 2nd dining room with bay window offering panoramic ocean views. More than 400 metres from neighbouring houses so the retreat offers the ultimate in seclusion for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.

Originally built in the 1950's as a farmhouse, the retreat is still surrounded by the original bush and farmland of the 100 hectare Wombalano property. Walking around the property or just relaxing at the retreat the combination of ocean, bushland and pastoral settings provide a unique panorama.

For nature lovers the retreat is within walking distance of the Great Otway National Park and the Great Ocean Walk. Native animals abound including Kangaroos, Echidnas and the majestic Wedge-tailed Eagle.

Dogs are welcome with prior arrangement.

Farmstay

Wombalano is a 100 hectare sheep and horse breeding property. With arrangement you can become involved in farm activities such as sheep mustering or feeding the friendly horses.

Environmentaly friendly

With its moderate temperatures & high rainfall, Wombalano is a haven for bush birds, birds of prey, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas & many others which flourish in these conditions.

At Wombalano Country Retreat there is an open invitation to make an environmental contribution during your stay. Maybe help to nurture some young trees or learn about low carbon footprint holidays. Here we say 'have fun while making a difference.'

  • "'Our family plus extended family and dog had the most brilliant christmas week at Wombalano Country Retreat. A very homely and comfortable cottage. Perfect for large groups or a couple who want seclusion and beautiful views. A great place to stay summer(house keeps cool) or winter (cosy woodfire). You can do as much or as little as you want, as you are close to so many things on the great ocean road. We saw a beautiful wedgetail eagle plus plenty of other wildlife on the property. All you need to bring is lots of food. Kitchen is well equiped and easily caters for large groups. Glenn the host was friendly and helpful plus Indy (dog) will even play a ball game with you.'"

  • "We had a wonderful stay at the farm house. It was very quiet and peaceful, but at the same time close to so many activites, which kept our children busy! The farm property itself has many surrounding acres for walking and nearby horses and sheep to visit. Our kids really liked playing on the tyre swing out the back. The house is an original 1950's style property, but warm and compfortable. A highlight was the glow worm visit by torchlight at Melba Gully. We also visited nearby Port Campbell, which was great. There are some farm activites, like feeding the horses and sheep, which was a big hit with the kids. "
