Tucked away in a quiet side street just a stone’s throw from Geelong’s city centre, City 193 offered a wonderfully spacious, warm escape.It is rare to discover boutique accommodation with all the finer details meticulously planned and presented with skill: wonderfully warm interior design, functionally perfect modern kitchen and bathrooms, cosy comfortable lounge and entertaining areas and a double bed to die for with all important reading lamps within reach. Although it would have been easy to relax for a whole week, reading, sipping plunger coffee and snacking on local produce in this beautifully restored period home, the Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula wineries were calling. With a passion for maritime climate Pinot Noir, City 193 was well within vineyard reach. Just a short hop from legendary Curlewis Winery (an award winning pocket sized vineyard/winery owned by former Red Onion Jazz Band banjo player Rainer Breit), and just 30-40 minutes drive from Bellarine Estate and Scotchmans Hill. Locally, the eclectic Packington Street shopping strip (Geelong West) is a hidden gem. With free winery tastings on weekends and the must visit Caffe Volare in the thick of it, a weekend away in this seaside town offered more fun and relaxation than expected. Caffe Volare was simply delightful. A tiny cafe (2x3m of working space) situated under the clock tower on Packo, charming owner Michael works tirelessly to present traditional European espresso with a smile. Grab a seat and soak up the atmosphere – Michael’s biscotti is great also!As a short or longer stay Geelong and its surrounds has a hell of a lot to offer. With regard to local accommodation, you’d be hard pressed to fine better value for money and ultimate privacy and comfort. City 193 is a stand out winner.
Once again, City 193 was a very pleasant home-away-from-home, and we really enjoyed our stay. So much so that we booked our next stay at City 193 before we checked out!

What a find! This is a very stylish and comfortable 'home away from home' for anyone wishing to stay in and enjoy the Geelong region. Karen has set up this house with everything that you could possibly want or need to have an enjoyable and restful time away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at City 193 and will be making a return visit soon. Highly recommended - don't hesitate to stay here!
