Description

Situated on a ridge over-looking Carrickalinga Beach, this spacious and comfortable house offers accomodation for all seasons for up to eleven people.

Whilst there are good restaurant facilities in the immediate area, the kitchen is large and well-equipped, and local food and wine supplies are of high quality.

This is a striking stretch of coastline where the rounded hills of the Fleurieu Peninsula plunge down to the sea. The township is squeezed between the hillside and dunes.

To preserve the township's tranquillity the Carrickalinga community has resisted any building of shops, but good shopping is to be had in adjacent Normanville, on 2km away.

Local activities

The beach is strikingly clean with clear water and fine white-yellow sand. It is usually quite safe for children, and popular with families. There is often a light surf when a swell enters the gulf from the open ocean. The Mediterranean climate means that swimming is viable for several months of the year.

There is access to beach walks both short or long. A stroll past huge dunes for a coffee at the Normanville beach kiosk. Or extensive cliff-top rambles to either Myponga in one direction, or to Second Valley in the other. Coorumbene itself is a minute from the beach.

A leisurely five minutes' drive away is The Links Lady Bay.

The road-side sealed walking path to Normanville doubles as a safe bike trail also.

Fishing and diving are very popular local pastimes.

Carrickalinga is 70 minutes or so south of Adelaide on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Coming from Adelaide it is easily accessible through the established wine-growing area of McLaren Vale. It is adjacent to wineries in Normanville also.

A half-hour south is Cape Jervis, the ferry departure point for Kangaroo Island. 40 mins south-east is Victor Harbor and then Goolwa and the Murray mouth.
