Description

Treat yourself to a holiday in one of Australia's finest locations; picturesque Arthur River, on Tasmania's north-west coast. The ARTHUR RIVER BEACH HOUSE is a luxury three bedroom waterfront property with it's own private boat landing. Breathtaking ocean and river views set a scene of natural tranquillity unlike any other.

FISHING & WILDLIFE:

Arthur River is arguably the best fishing spot in Tasmania. 30 seconds walk from the A.R. Beach House you can catch pacific salmon, estuary perch or sea running brown trout. And then there's the ocean fishing - 200m away you can catch 20lb salmon or flounder off the beach. With simple goggles and a snorkel you can catch your own abalone and lobsters.

Yes it's true. And if you get sick of ocean or inlet fishing, then you can turn the boat around and head up river into some of the most ancient and pristine rainforest in the world (boat hire available). This is home to regular catches of the cod-like Tasmanian "river blackfish", which grows to 8lb. It is also trout country - legendary catches of 13lb are well known. If that's not enough then there dwells a 16lb yabby which grows to 1m long! Not allowed to keep them though.

Wildlife ON THE PROPERTY includes possums, Tasmanian devils, and magnificent spotted native cats. The native cats in Tasmania (also called quolls) are the biggest in the world. Also on the property is a wide variety of birds such as green parrots, fairy wrens, yellow throated honey eaters, red breasted robins and many more. A pair of sea eagles fly backward & forward past the lounge room between their nest and ocean fishing grounds. Wallabies and wombats come to the back door for vegetable scraps. Black swans teach their cygnets to fly in front of the house.

ARTHUR RIVER TOWNSHIP:

This is a town unlike any other in Australia; it lies entirely within a "conservation area", providing protection for the animals and aboriginal heritage sites, but without the restrictions of a National Park. This is a tourist town, with wildlife tours, river cruises, forest drives, as well as 4WD trails with beach access. The famous Dismal Swamp Maze is nearby, as is the historic property of Woolnorth (oldest continually operated company in Australia); offering tours of its giant turbine wind farm.

A new 4WD adventure tour business has just started at Arthur River. During your stay why not take a tour through the dunes & down the rugged West Coast beaches! They do Aboriginal & mining history tours, as well as night-time wildlife spotting. 4WD tours can be booked with our accommodation.

Arthur River is the home of fishing adventure, rainforest magnificence, beach isolation, and tranquil relaxation. You can enjoy it all in unrivalled waterfront luxury at the ARTHUR RIVER BEACH HOUSE.

The Christmas/New Year period is fully booked, but most other dates should be available. OUR CALENDAR IS INACTIVE.

Guest Reviews

  • "Fabulous stay, great view and facilities. Only downside was that we couldnt open the windows in 2 of the bedrooms to get some fresh air in, and it was pretty warm while we were there. Great contacts at the shop provided us with correct info and some good advice."

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay at Arthur River Beach House. The house is clean, cosy, spacious and we enjoyed the sunset, seagulls and the quietness. I have already recommended to friends. Many thanks to Wendy also, she has been most helpful and friendly."

  • "It was everything they said it would be. Very private, quiet and clean and the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The only thing it didnt have was the foul weather we ordered as we come from Qld and are well and truly over the heat."
