We are ideal for families, couples, pets and children.

Stop, look and listen to the sounds of the countryside and bond with your loved ones in an undisturbed beautiful setting.

What to see and do?
Walks
From the farm house, you can walk straight up onto the 'Big Hill': a land mark in the area. The views from the Big Hill are amongst the most spectacular in the country.

Pan for Gold in your very own creek
Walk down past the old cattle yards to the Palmers Oakey Creek. If the water is low, you can walk along the creek bed and follow the shape of the Horseshoe Bend, which gives the Farm its name. The creek runs into the famous Turon River, where you can enjoy fishing just a short 10 minute drive away from the Farm.

Try panning for gold or just picnic on the grassy hill on top of the Horseshoe Bend. Maybe you'll get a glimpse of the wombats that live there.

Horseshoe Bend Farm provides grazing land for stock in the area. At any time there can be up to 1000 sheep on the property or some cattle. The children will love it. At dusk look out for kangaroos and wallabies.

Drives
Capertee: A 20 min drive away where you can purchase all your basic groceries. You will drive through Turon Gates (just 10 minutes from your Farm).

Sofala: Go through Turon Gates and follow the road to the Castlereagh Highway. Turn left towards Mudgee and left at the Bathurst and Sofala sign. You'll drive through the historical mining town of Sofala. It's an extraordinary place to visit, and a great place to have tea and scones or a beer from the local pub. If you have an adventurous spirit and a four wheel drive, take the Sofala Road, to the left as you head towards Turon Gates from the Farm. This will be an adventure you'll never forget!

How to get there?
The Farm is three hours west of Sydney and only 35 mins from the Great Western Highway. There are two main ways to get there from Sydney. Head towards Lithgow from either the Great Western Highway or the Bells Line of Road. Once you're at Lithgow, look for McDonalds on the right hand side as you're heading towards Bathurst.

From McDonalds at Lithgow continue along the Great Western Highway for 26kms to the turnoff just after the Meadow Flat Creek. Take the right hand turn at the Sunny Corner and Portland sign. Follow the road for 7.6kms and turn right onto Dark Corner Road. Travel 4.4kms and turn right onto Dark Corner Road/Mitchell Highway. You are now 25.3kms from the farm. At 21kms you'll see the Palmers Oakey Fire shed on your left hand side. You're nearly there! Look out for the letter box in the shape of a horse and go up the long drive.

The other way to go is through Capertee. Look out for McDonalds at Lithgow, on the right hand side as you're headed towards Bathurst along the Great Western Highway. At 6 kms take the Mudgee turnoff on the left, and onto the Castlereagh Highway. Follow the road for 36kms to Capertee. Look out for the signs to Turon Gates on the left about 1km after Capertee. You are now about 20 kms to Turon Gates and then just a few kms further to Horseshoe Bend Farm. Just follow the signs to Turon Gates and keep going for 10 minutes after Turon Gates and look for the Horse shaped letter box on the left hand side. Come up the drive and welcome to your farm.

The last 20 mins of both these routes are on a well graded dirt road, suitable for both 4 wheel and 2 wheel cars. (Care should always be taken on bush roads.)
