Take a short stroll across the grassy field, past the penguin burrows to the beach and feel the pristine white quartz sand massage your toes. Venture across the sand bar at low tide and visit Diamond Island, a protected sanctuary for the Fairy Penguins.
Swim the crystal clear water, surf Redbill beach, explore the rock pools, sift through the seashells, sunbathe in the sand dunes or just relax on the spacious deck at \'The Retreat\' with a glass of chilled Tasmanian wine. If you are lucky you may spot dolphins playfully frolicking in the shelter of Diamond Island or perhaps even a whales on their migration down the East Coast of Tasmania.
Providing a virtual waterfront location, \'The Retreat\' provides quiet, comfortable, self contained accommodation in an idyllic and picturesque setting, 3 klm from the East coast township of Bicheno.
Accommodation at \'The Retreat\' consists of 1 queen size bed, 1 single bed and 2 single bunk beds.
Linen, doonas, pillows, blankets and towels are provided.
The laundry has a washing machine and dryer.
With a comfortable leather lounge suite, reverse cycle airconditioner, TV, CD and DVD player, you are assured of a restful vacation in this captivating spot.
The kitchen is equipped with a full range of cooking utensils and equipment so feel free to cook for yourself either indoors or on the outdoor gas bbq.
Alternatively venture into the township for a counter meal or enjoy French cuisine at the local French restaurant. If you don\'t fancy driving, the best restaurant on the east coast is 5 minutes walk away! The chef at \'Facets\' restaurant specialises in dishes that focus on local seafood, beef, fruits, wines and cheeses. It is Tasmania\'s tamed cuisine at its very best.
A safe 4klm walking and bicycle track, built as a bi-centenial project links \'The Retreat\' with Bicheno and the blowhole. Perfect for a healthy stroll.

Situated an equal distance from the capital city of Hobart in the South and the northern city of Launceston, Bicheno is a popular holiday destination for Tasmanian and interstate visitors alike. This part of Tasmania enjoys its own Mediterranean microclimate. The East coast is generally several degrees warmer than the rest of Tasmania all year round. It is out of the rain shadow of the west coast and the highlands and its nooks and crannies are where savvy Tasmanians go for rest and recreation.
Originally a whaling town Bicheno is now home to a thriving fishing industry and is a vibrant tourist destination. Bicheno provides a perfect base for exploring the unspoilt beauty of the East Coast of Tasmania. The Apsley Gorge National Park, the breathtaking Freycinet Peninsula and the quaint Coles Bay township are all a short drive from Bicheno. Penguin tours (bookings required) are held nightly all year round 5 minutes walk from this magical location.
Diving and fishing charters operate out of Bicheno and a glass bottom boat shows off the magnificence of the kelp forests that grace the East Coast of Tasmania.
Bicheno has a wide range of activities to cater for every taste and budget – your hardest decision will be deciding how to spend your time.
For golfing enthusiasts the Bicheno Golf Club is a flat but challenging 9 hole, par 36 course that is adjacent to the beach and surrounded by beautiful native trees.
If you fancy a hit of tennis there are courts located in the main town centre.
For those with a love of the sea, saltwater and freshwater fly fishing tours are available, or if you prefer to be under the water the Bicheno Dive Centre offers scuba diving lessons and equipment hire, with two dive boats operating daily.
Bicheno has many walking tracks and lookouts that offer spectacular views and Douglas Apsley National Park and Freycinet National Park are both within a 20 minute drive.
Families are well catered for in Bicheno with a range of activities including penguin tours, a seahorse aquarium () and a local wildlife park. Natureworld () is home to many Australian animals such as wombats, possums, kangaroos, koalas, snakes (in enclosures!), stunning parakeets, tasmanian devils, emus and too many more animals to mention.
The main town centre has a range of craft shops, an art gallery, bakery, cafes, restaurants, surf shops and many hidden treasures that are worth exploring at your leisure. If you want to e-mail friends or search the internet during your stay there is an Online Access Centre located in the main town centre.
The East Coast is also home to many of Tasmania’s fine vineyards which are well worth visiting.

For the months of JUNE to AUGUST the tariff for a booking of 2 nights or more for 1 to 5 people is $100 per night.
Tariff for a single nights accommodation during this period is $150 per night.
For the months of SEPTEMBER to NOVEMBER and MARCH to MAY the tariff for a booking of 2 nights or more for 1 to 5 people is $150 per night.
Tariff for a single nights accommodation during this period is $190 per night.
For the months of DECEMBER to FEBRUARY the tariff for a booking of 2 nights or more for 1 to 5 people is $200 per night.
Tariff for a single nights accommodation during this period is $240 per night.

Payment conditions:
$100 deposit (or total cost for single night) required within 7 days of confirmation of booking. Balance of rental cost required 14 days prior to rental period.
Payment can be made by cheque or preferably direct deposit.
If required, payments (including credit card) can be made through PayPal.
Cancellation policy:
Deposit will be refunded if cancelled up to 30 days before rental period.
