Description

Our luxury cottage River Gum, sleeping 7, offers quality furnishings and has many extras not offered by other holiday properties including a selection of novels and games provided for your comfort and enjoyment. The covered decks are perfect for capturing the morning sun while providing protection from the afternoon heat.

Being located approximately halfway between Sydney & Melbourne it is the perfect spot to meet up with family and friends.

River Gum cottage has a 4.5 Star AAA Tourism rating an sleeps 6 adults. It has 3 bedrooms, the main bedroom has a queen bed with private ensuite and walk in robe, the second bedroom has a king bed, both of these rooms have double French doors leading out on to the balcony and the third bedroom has a double bunk.

The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave etc., separate dining room, lounge room with TV, DVD, VCR, and CD player.

Full reverse cycle air conditioning and a full bathroom with bath, and laundry with washing machine, dryer plus another shower and toilet.

On your private balcony you have your own gas BBQ and outdoor setting.

LOCATION

Elm Cottage is located 14kms from the township of Tumut in the Snowy Mountains.

We are approximately 21/2 hours from Canberra, 41/2 from Sydney, 6 hours from Melbourne and just 1 hour from Wagga Wagga.

On arriving in Tumut take the Snowy Mountains Highway towards Cooma. Take a left hand turn into Tumut Plains Road just after the Tumut Art Society building. After crossing the one lane heritage bridge then another small bridge, take the next road to your left - Little River Road. Follow Little River Road until you reach the Goobarrgandra River (7.2kms) then take a right at the gateand continue along the dirt road 1.5kms. You will see our signs to Elm Cottage

THINGS TO DO

Mt. Selwyn snowfields are just an hour from the property for those skiing enthusiasts. Mt. Selwyn provides breathtaking winter scenery and some of the best ski runs Mother Nature has. It provides a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, service that makes you feel at home and totally modern facilities. A great resort for young families and the less experienced skier.

Blowering Dam is where Ken Warby set the world water speed record and is just 10 minutes from Elm Cottage. Here you can go water skiing, windsurfing and it is a great spot fishing enthusiasts with rainbow trout, brown trout, golden perch, cod and refin to be caught.

Kosciusko National Park is 690,000 hectares of diverse natural landscape. Bushwalking, mountain bike riding, picnicking, fishing, caving, car touring, canoeing, and horse riding are just some of the activities you can undertake within the Park. Include a visit to Yarrangobilly Caves and discover some of the most beautiful and ornate caves in Australia. Take a guided or self guided cave tour, then take a swim in the termal pool (a pleasant 27 degrees celcius). The caves are open every day except Christmas Day.

Talbingo just 30 minutes drive from the property is the birthplace of famous Australian author Miles Franklin. It is a picturesque township nestled by the shore of lake Jourama. It is also home to the Tumut 3 Power Station, the largest of the power stations in the Snowy Mountains Scheme, and visitors are welcome to view the static display or take a tour of the power station.

Batlow 30 minutes away is famous for its apple, cherry and stonefruit orchards plus its large native and softwood forests which not only add visual appeal to the area, but like orcharding contribute significantly to the town\'s economy. The Hume & Hovell Lookout provides spectacular views of Blowering Valley and Lake.

Adelong a heritage town famous for its goldming past is just 40 minutes from Elm Cottage. In Autumn & Spring artists flock to the township to capture on canvas and film the colours of stately trees plus the diverse beauty of the hills, valleys and country properties.

Tumbarumba with its wineries, the Boggy Creek show and the Berry Farm reknown for its pancakes are an hour from the property.

Activities within the region are numerous ranging from golf, fishing, bushwalking, mountain bike riding, canoeing and kayaking. You can even go along to Air Escape and try the ultimate freedom of powered hang gliding. Peter Wilson, chief flying instructor invites you to take a Trial Introductory Flight over the Tumut valley to view the magnificent scenery and during the flight you have the opportunity to take control of the aircraft - if you like.!!

The Tumut Region offers something for everyone year round, or alternatively you can just stay at the property, relax and unwind, listen to the sounds of the river , view the birdlife, see an echnida, platypus and wombat in their natural habitat , take in the natural beauty of the Goobarragandra Valley whilst recharging your batteries.
