Description

Fully s/c one bedroom, warm, sunny, MODERN COTTAGE, in a quiet garden setting. The view from the cottage of historic century old "WERNDEE" is pictured, along with the heritage-listed stand of 30 Bhutan cypress trees.
Ideal for a couple or single person on a business trip-there is a fold out bed for a corner of the large living area also, if required.
Hobart makes a great base for exploring the beautiful south of the island and the cottage is perfect for an extended stay-no traffic noise or other people's plumbing!
Hobart's waterfront and famous Salamanca Place is only a 5 minute drive, or leave your car safe and sound and walk an easy 20-30 minutes- or catch the frequent local buses.
Cook up a storm in the fully equipped kitchen with herbs, chillies, fruit and citrus from our unique garden on a basketball court , complete with citrus grove and fishponds, or stroll 10 mins to North Hobart's multicultural restaurants and cafes.
Relax in your home away from home- in it's own small blue and white garden, or wander among the roses and citrus trees, fish ponds and fountains in Werndee's large garden. Take a grand tour of Federation Werndee , built in 1903 for the Premier of Tasmania, Sir Neil Elliott Lewis , and since home for hundreds of Tasmanian and overseas students. It has been beautifully restored as a family home and features beautiful Tasmanian and Australian timbers, not least a magnificent Blackwood staircase.

Guest Reviews

  • "Fantastic place to stay, will be returning. Cozy, quiet, central to restaurants."
    Steven, April 2009

  • "A good house to stay in for a few days ( or longer) with privacy, a comfy bed, all facilities you might need ( and we like to cook) and hosts who are there without being in your face but friendly at the same time. Nothing was too much trouble. A good walk into Hobart and we will do that next time but catch the bus back. Close enough to coffee shops and indeed all you might need in North Hobart. We will return."
    Peter and Susan, April 2008

  • "This was a fantastic place to stay- very roomy, clean and the hosts were fantastic. Thanks it was a great place to stay- recommend to any one. "

  • "The house is a very gracious high Victorian mansion and our room was in keeping. The area has become very convenient for travellers, with multiple cuisines as well as all the other requirements available in the cosmopolitan shopping strip just down Elizabeth Street. And the owners are most welcoming and obliging. We were glad to have missed out on Sandy Bay!"
    Paul, January 2008

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed the accommodation Would stay back there again. Great hosts."
