The eastern end of Anglsea beach at the River Mouth, is a great place to take the little kids, as it has shallow warm water and no waves. Take a bat and ball for beach cricket.
Lots of family activity there to keep everyone amused.
You may want to sit with a coffee and a snack whilst taking in the view of ANGLESEA beach from the decking of the Surf Life Saving Club House Cafe. (One of best beach views in Anglesea and Victoria - for that matter)
The COOROONGA PARK "WET LANDS" reserve is just five minutes walk from the house, there you will see an abundance of birdlife on the many beautiful board-walks across the wet lands. There are also many Mountain Bike tracks in and around the wetlands.
You may want to take a paddle boat or a (low) powered boat out on the river. (Just near the bridge on the Great Ocean Road.)
Take a short drive to Torquay to buy up on some surf gear and clothing. All the big surf brands have there direct outlets there, although it can be a bit hectic there, it's always nice to come back to AMBROSE HOUSE and relax.
You may want to stop on the way at Bellbrae Winery for a Ploughmans Lunch (highly recomended) or some other fine food with a glass of the wonderfull local wine.
Another great luch spot is Berry Farm, it's only a 15min drive from Anglesea - great food/wine and a lovely spot by a small lake.
We have recently discovered "Gentle Annie's" Berry Gardens & Tea rooms in nearby Deans Marsh (ph) for a wonderfull trip into the country. Great meals & light lunches, berry-fruit picking (seasonal), fresh produce, licenced. Very lay back and just wonderfull.
(Try the mixed berry and ice - cream dessert)
There are a number of very good Wineries in the region to sample the cellar door sales- make a day trip of it from Ambrose House.
