Set in a hectare of English woodland garden on the banks of the Ovens River, Merrimeet is a Tudor grand house accompanied by three mews garden apartments and three riverbank cottages.
This elegant self-contained accommodation has been developed in the extensive grounds of one of Bright's most distinctive homes. The path along the river is a few minutes walk to Bright's renowned cafes, restaurants and gift shops.

Merrimeet is a delightful property with a lovely garden backing onto the river and 5 minutes walk to town. The 2 bedroom apartment was of a high standard and the owners were a pleasure to deal with. The apartment is accessed by stairs and would not suit a family with young children or frail adults. However, this was made clear prior to booking. I have already recommended it to others.

I loved it!
The weekend away at Merrimeet Cottages was just what we needed: Waking up to the sound of the nearby Ovens river, sitting in front of the cosy fire place at night or just enjoying a glass of excellent red on the balcony with the afternoon sun. The cottage has a lovely setting, is well presented and everything is provided for. The host Philip has been very welcoming and friendly. We will be back! We had a very enjoyable time at Meerimeet. The cottage was well appointed and presented and the hosts very accomodating. The position is great, with the walking track along the river accessible through the gardens and a lovely quiet setting. No traffic noise here! Great complimentary bickies too. Highly recommended.

Location was excellent, most beautiful garden right next to the Ovens river but within easy walking distance to the town centre.
Nicely furnished if a little bit cramped, but you wouldn't wont to spend too much time inside with such lovely surroundings just outside your door.
Only negative was that the shower was directly over the spa and it was difficult to get into and out of, could be a challenge for some people.
