Wallaroo has some of the finest fishing grounds in South Australia - species include whiting, snapper, yellowtail kingfish, garfish, snook, squid and crabs. It boasts a huge jetty at the end of the main street.
By boat it's an easy run down the coast to Moonta and Tippera Reef and the magnificent South Beach/Cape Elizabeth areas or head north to Port Broughton and Fishermans Bay. Larger boats can head across the gulf some 40kms to the pristine waters of Cowell located on Franklin Harbour.
The Wallaroo to Cowell ferries are now operating and is a great shortcut to/from the Eyre Peninsula. The ferry docks in Wallaroo on the Yorke Peninsula, only 600 metres from the cottage.
On Eyre Peninsula the ferry docks at Lucky Bay, about a 2 hour ferry ride straight across the gulf. Cowell is situated on Lucky Bay only metres from the Ferry.
