Bird lovers and nature lovers will adore Noarlunga. It is located in a 50+ acre area of bush which is full of wildlife and birds. Right next door is the Coastal Reserve National Park which extends all along the deserted shoreline to the national park at Wilson's Promontory. If you have an adventurous disposition you can hike along the shoreline to Millers Landing in Wilson's Prom park.
The entrance to Winkarlin Beach is less than 100 meters from the driveway of Noarlunga. The beach is safe and sandy. At high tide go for a swim and at low tide go fishing off the 'flat rock'. Noarlunga means 'fishing place' in the aboriginal Kuarna language and there are a number of good fishing spots close by.
If you prefer to stay close to home, you can watch wombats, echidnas and other animals come to the back garden pond for a drink and a dip. We have a list of over 100 species of birds that can be seen at or around Noarlunga.
Please ask if you would like to bring your dog with you. We do not allow them in the house but you can bring their bedding and they can stay in our outside dog run and kennel.
You will be treading lightly at Noarlunga as all the electricity is solar powered. In addition the house still has its original gas light fixtures some in working condition!
Two comfortable queen bedrooms are provided, each with its own ensuite shower. In addition there is a bathroom, dining area, family room, living room with 'open' gas fire, fully functional kitchen with gas cooker and fridge, and study area which can accommodate one or two children.
At night try turning out the lights and looking at the stars! You will be amazed by what you can see once you have left all the towns behind.
If you want the excitement of surfing it is only a 20 minute drive to the terrific beaches at Waratah Bay or the patrolled beach at Sandy Point. Alternatively, you can explore the quieter beaches of Corner Inlet where you are much more likely to meet Black Swans than people.
Corner Inlet is the most easterly, and consequently the warmest, of Victoria's large bays. It has a complex network of beaches, mangroves, saltmarsh, mud banks, seagrass beds, rocky islands and deeper channels. Corner Inlet supports huge numbers of migratory water birds and healthy populations of seafloor animals and plants that are rare or absent elsewhere in Victoria. For more details check out the Parks Victoria website.
