Accommodation and how to get there

The ground floor is designed for those with limited mobility, with an accessible bathroom and double bedroom, which can accommodate 2 people Everyone can gather outside where there is seating in the sun and under cover, and a family sized barbecue

Upstairs ,2 double bedrooms sleep up to 4 people. The bath upstairs lets in the view of the trees: just what one needs for a relaxing, mediative soak. A fully functional kitchen and more formal dining area is a pleasure for long summer nights. Take breakfast or lunch out on the deck, where the Webber makes cooking simple. Beware the kookaburras,

ugh: you are eating at tree level after all. We supply bedding and kitchen linen; all you need is your sheets, pillow cases and towels. Don’t worry if that is a problem; we can hire these to you as needed.

The house is ecologically designed, modern and simple, with all the conveniences you desire for a relaxing and peaceful stay: TVs, DVD, sound system, microwaves, dishwasher, hair dryer We use the rain tank for our grey water needs ( flushing toilets, watering the garden) and save purified town water for drinking and washing. We use solar energy to heat the water, with mains back-up. We use passive house cooling. This means the house is placed to catch the prevailing breezes, is insulated, and fitted with block-out blinds to keep out the heat. We use gas for cosy warmth when the weather cools. Under the sink in the kitchen, the garbage is separated so that guests can recycle where possible. We even re-used some of the fittings from the house that stood at this site before this one was built.

Callala Bay is 90 seconds up the lane opposite: boating, swimming in quiet water, long walks on beautiful sands and snorkelling in Hare Bay, the nursery of the fish of Jervis Bay National Marine Park. Stroll through the neighbouring preserve along the creek, home to ducks and water fowl, to reach the cafés, supermarket, and other amenities

Surf is next door at Callala Beach, or up and down the coast nearby.

    Sylvia, September 2007

  • "We had a great time at Adnawara. Woke up in the morning by the kookaburras and had breakfast in the fresh sea breeze on the balcony. After lunch/coffee at Berry, we could go collecting sea shells across the lane way at Callala bay or catch a few waves at Callala beach. Cooked the best steaks using the Weber then watched cricket on the recliner sofa with our feet up. At night, looking thru the windows, my little son screamed: "Stars!!" (hope he didn't wake up the whole street). What a life at Adnawara!"
    Fiona, February 2007
